I need to reply to your last two posts, but I just wanted to note that my neighbour played St Elmo's Fire this morning at top volume, and then when I went out the song morphed into Hava Nagila in my head Not the Queen song morph I still haven't remembered, but a pretty impressive example of the phenomenon we were discussing a while ago

"[High number of first sentences typed and then deleted as I can't find the right words, but in the end I've decided that you knowing I mean well is more important than trying to find the right, impossible to find phrase]"
Thank you - indeed there are no words...
I read your tribute to Peregrin - excellent... It is comforting indeed to remember how much someone made a difference, and to remember that we made a difference to each other...
I was very lucky to be included so much by Deb's family - it could easily have been very different under the circumstances, but then again they did know she was a passionate and knowledgeable person, so they can't have been totally surprised that she found little ol' me, and she did mention me to them as much as I mentioned her to my family...
That is sad about your sisters... My sister is very different from me, but we do get on well now we don't live together. Kudos for you for trying to keep everyone happy...
Glad your son enjoyed the 1940s weekend - I'm sure your daughter will enjoy it too when she's old enough to appreciate it and not get too tired. I'm preparing another Museum Entry at the moment too, so I would say an Entry on the new Museum would be good, and it could then be linked to in the other Entry

"yay, the old team working together again."
Yeah! A <BB< Entry about a Disney film was just the thing
I made those changes and I'm happy with A87829131 now, so if you are too it can be sent on its way

By the way, thanks for letting me know when you might be available for a meet - I'm still in the process of working things out, but I'll definitely take that into account and let you know when I have more details.
"I'd better warn you that I'm rather dull in real life, especially as I don't have half an hour in which to think up a witty or clever reply."
Me too, probably, but we'll see how it goes... When I was at the Manchester Meet this year, it was mixed - I used my conversational skills to good effect with Pastey (he did the talking, and I supplied suitable interjections to keep the conversation flowing ) but then it ended up with just companionable silence between me and TRiG and 2legs, but it was great to be there.
Now I must look at your Royal Armouries Entry

I've had a read through and am happy with the Basil the Great Mouse Detective entry – one of the Flea Market entries that I wouldn't have written about otherwise, but has worked out quite well.
Let me know what your plans are to come down this way – as I've said I generally do the supplying suitable interjections to keep the conversation flowing bit rather than being the life and soul of the party, but companionable silence and being there is something I specialise in.
And it is good advice about writing a new article just about the museum – you can never have too many Isle of Wight entries, after all. Thanks for having a look at the Royal Armouries one - you've won a smiley

Thanks for the smiley
Congratulations - Basil the Great Mouse Detective is on the Front Page today, and your Sir Edward Woodville Entry has been made Edited too

Have I won the 'Edited Entry with the Longest Title' competition?

How've you been lately? It was my daughter's 4th birthday yesterday, so it has been quite a hectic weekend.

Sorry, no, I don't know exactly what wins the Edited Entry with the Longest Title competition, but on the Front Page today the Edward VIII Entry title beats Edward Woodville in length

Ah, sorry - looks like we cross posted last week, so I didn't see your reply before my reply...
I've been keeping busy, brewing more Entries, and also spending time with my friends who live round here, which is good, so I'm doing fine.
I'm sure your daughter enjoyed her day and I hope you're enjoying your vacation
Slight change of plan for me in relation to my holiday - I've been offered a job for September, which is great so I'm planning to be down south next weekend instead. I hope we can synchronise plans, but if not I'll just have to try to catch up with you some other time

Hello from Yorkshire! I'm up visiting the inlaws for a week and a half, so not back down until the Bank Holiday Monday - promise not to burgle the house while I'm out. My inlaws have the internet so I'll be able to go online now and then. I hope to write a very short entry too - I went to Boscombe on Tuesday so want to write about that too.
Congratulations on the job - what will you be doing?
Just got a week's worth of internet to catch up on!

Good to see you're enjoying your holiday, and finding time to visit us in here as well!
I finally managed to sort out my plans, so I'm in Southampton on Monday and Tuesday next week. It would be great if you have a spare few minutes to meet up somewhere (my hotel is just over the road from your workplace, I think).

I'm to be working in a University as an administrator of student records - I had a tour today, and saw a carpet that was awesome in its stainedness, but unlike the carpet you mentioned it will be replaced during the building works that are taking place this month!
I hope the building works at your place will be finished by the time you get back, but if not at least you've had a good break from it all...

Bluebottle Posted Aug 19, 2014
Ah - either the Jury's or Premier Inn, then?
I don't think there's much chance of the builders being efficient enough to finish by the time I return, alas... Be a nice thought, though, having a workplace with running water. I'd offer to give you a tour of place, but it is a building site.
Tuesday'll be my first day back at work so on that short notice I won't be able to get the afternoon off, but I might be able to leave work slightly early - say around 4pm? Won't be able to promise for definite until I see the size of the pile of work that's arisen in my absence

SashaQ - happysad Posted Aug 20, 2014
Yep
Yeah, the works at your place sound so extensive, I didn't think they'd be finished yet, really. Hopefully you will have nearby facilities when you get back, anyway, if nothing else!
My train is at 3pm on Tuesday, unfortunately. Do you have a break around midday?

Bluebottle Posted Aug 21, 2014
Well, you'll be able to get a view of the building works. I work in the Millais building, which is the one next to the building site and the new building is going to be attached to my one. When they've finished building it.
I do get a lunch hour, noon normally, but it is usually quite strictly an hour. I'd've had more time later, but hey, c'est la vie. How well do you know Southampton and is there anywhere you'd like to meet? There's a café in the park close to where I work, next to the cultural crazy golf course (Southampton announced they were making a Cultural Quarter and then immediately converted a bowling green into a mini golf course, which I'm not sure counts as being cultural as they don't even have a windmill) but if it is a rainy day probably isn't the nicest place. I don't want to suggest anywhere too difficult to find.

SashaQ - happysad Posted Aug 21, 2014
C'est la vie indeed, but I'm pleased we can meet - it is funny that you're mostly up north when I'm down south and vice versa!
The cafe in the park sounds good I shall endeavour to meet you outside your building at noon on Tuesday, and I have your office telephone number in case there is a problem.

Bluebottle Posted Aug 21, 2014
Sounds like a plan. If it rains there's an overhang outside the library building which has a little shelter, or I could meet you in the café? I apologise in advance for the fact that the outside of my building site building isn't going to be the nicest place to wait, but with only an hour it makes sense to try to make the most of it.
And as you say, you have my office telephone number in case there's a problem - but what if there's a problem with the office telephones? (Did I tell you we recently upgraded our phone system and my phone hasn't worked properly since, let alone the number of times the builders cut through the cables)

SashaQ - happysad Posted Aug 21, 2014
No need to apologise - I'm just pleased we have a window of opportunity rather than just passing each other on the train!
Ah, I didn't realise your phones had also been messed around this summer... I will send you an e-mail just in case.
