Wassup yoo these days?
Long time no hear.
How's them ankles?
Yo bro
Hades Posted Apr 20, 2009
My cankles (calf/ankles ) are still variable...I have found they are good at predicting the weather as the warmer it gets the less inclined I am to show them
My big problem literally is weight, if I lose weight they go down but put it on and the minute my BP goes up the cankles start swelling.
And as I have been off my diet since before xmas then BP not to good
Still, I will be restarting the diet again soon and dragging myself back down the gym, I have to fit into a wedding outfit now as the OH had a lapse of reason in Feb and agreed to do the deed that should not be spoken out loud

Top Man!!
Congrats!
When is it?
I won't blabber on CB guv.
Tho' if you want to stay confidential I understand.
So best wishes anyway.
I don't know if you recall but I mentioned a change of BP tablets sorted my ankles at once and it's never reoccurred. Apparanetly it's common for tablets to eventually react. I had no issues for years then - pop!
CB is dead quiet these days in the day.
Don't be a stranger.

Hades Posted Apr 24, 2009
Thanks bro , dunno about the pills...I'm on Amilodipine and they do cause ankle swelling...its not massive but shins "pit" when you press in..to be honest I think a lot of my probs are weight driven so I'll focus on that until I'm lighter and then if its still a problem I will request a change. I had a reaction to Captopril which means that whole family of drugs is off the shopping list so the next step may be diuretics and I dont want them in my life...very inconvenient being in the conveniences all the time.
YEah wedding rocks! Saving for it at the moment is my main priority plus work has just gone crazy recently...more and more of it all the time.
I wil pop in the the CB's as and when I get a chance cos its a good way to chill out in work on my breaks
Thanks for asking after me
Dave (aka Hades )

Aah - the fat ankles thread - that takes me back.
Bloody painful it was too.
Hope you got that sorted!
Ooh - it's come around quick!
I bet you are nervous as hell!
Why are your folks being difficult?
I don't know anything about them but this is about your future happiness now mate with someone you care about so just focus on that and don't let any "guilt" monkeys hitch a ride.
The problem is theirs not yours!
I'm about to book a 21 day train journey West to East across America in April.
35th anniversary that month and I hit 60 in Feb and Anne hits it in August.

Hades Posted Jan 22, 2010
That sounds very adventurous, canada last year america this...I hope you and Anne have a great journey.
Parents are being difficult because we are not having any rels with us abroad, they have refused to celebrate with us because they aren't there...just selfish guilt monkeys as you say
Point is, the wedding is between me and my OH- no-one else, we are quite private people really when it comes to this. Our happiness is being somewhat sullied by them and things that were said by them about the event...however I still want them to attend because, well not sure now but initially because they are my parents.
It has upset us both but they feel this is justified because they were upset at our decision.
we are self funding everything and have been since the start because this is our wedding not any one elses and because we are in our mid to late thirties (she's mid and i'm always late)
But as you say, they can only upset us if we let them
thanks for your kind words
I look forward to us having as long a relationship as you guys, we've only been together 9 years (last august) so are fledglings in comparison.
When is your beepday?

Scoobydoo Posted Jan 22, 2010
15th February but don't mention it on CB.
Some know but I don't want one of those daft threads telling the world.
Don't let it spoil your day but I know it will be hard not to think about them.
I take it you have something planned on return which would have involved them?

Hades Posted Jan 26, 2010
Hi Scoobs..dont worry, no thread from me..hairy bikers mums the word
As to the something planned, well we're having the sit down meal on our return and in our dreams it was going to be a happy celebration woth all our friends and family.
So far I have had one phone call since last july, which was last week. When asked (again) if they are coming, was told "We'll have to think about it"
hmmm, now wedding is next friday and the do is 19th feb
we have to book numbers for the sit down meal
thanks parents
thanks a lot
I found out on sunday that they were coming (from my sister) and that there was a "letter" in the post, which still hasn't got here.
Main thing is though that they will be there, now I only have to hope they dont do anything to ruin the event
selfish aren't I?!
but finally the excitement is kicking in
we've organised the do, packing this weekend and then thats it
the rest of our lives to look forward to
wahey

Hi Dave,
(that seems strange - just as well I'm not called Si - the Hairy CBers)
Maybe the letter will have been cathartic for them and maybe it will help you and them move forward.
I hope they aren't attending to "have their say".
Anyway 6 days to take off
Just think to yourself when you sit down for your celebration on the 19th, if they do play up, "It could be worse - I could have a bus pass like poor old Scoobs"
Have a fabulous wedding and I look forward to hearing that the 19th was a good day also.

Scooby!!!!
Hiya fella
Thanks ever so much for the message!
We had a great time out there and I had no internet so have only just read it.
The letter, , was a piece of paper with their menu choices and "Dear Laurie" ( my middle name is Laurence )" we will attend on the 19th please find attached the food choices"
Wowee!
then the meal went with only me talking to my dad, mum silent, wife not wanting to converse with them. No card, no congrats from them. Then when my wife was busy saying goodbye to friends that night and turned away when my mum interrupted her I found out that the maternal being had stalked out in front of friends and wifes family saying to my dad "she's a bitch"
then a phone call from my dad the next day demanding we tell them why my mum was being ignored as if she was the centre of the spinning universe at our wedding
But still
Kenya was amazing...as well as the safaris included in our wedding deal in Shimba Hills Lodge we bought another 3day 2night one to Tsavo East and West..wow, so many wildlife photos on our new DSLR with super lens. The resort was fantastic , the food was brilliant and then when we got home the sit down meal and evening do were great.
It was truly memorable..for all the right reasons.I hope in time all we will remember is the good parts.
The old phrase " you can pick your friends but..." is so true

Scoobydoo Posted Mar 1, 2010
Hey - so glad you enjoyed.
I bet the safari was brilliant!!
Only a few days back I thought "Must message him to see how he got on" then my mum got whooshed into hospital - I haven't posted in a week.
The only thing that matters is that you two had a memorable time and you have many souvenirs on that DSLR.
I thought my safari shots were good until I started to edit them with the software that's freely available. You can make them look even more stunning.
By the way, I have a book called "Families - they Fk you up!"

Hades Posted Mar 1, 2010
LOL
Jambo----yeah, it seemed a bit insincere by the end as if the real meaning was "tourist tossp*t"
but still I wish I was back there, sooo warm!
families they do fk you up
Could you direct me to the free photo editing sites as I have NEF RAW files so was looking at buying a good photo package but if there is free ware out there that does a good job then I would like to try it at least
I have been contemplating photoshop

Scoobydoo Posted Mar 1, 2010
It's Dave isn't it?
Must stop calling you Hades.
I use a free download prog called Picasa.
I have Photoshop Elements but can't yet fathom it.
I am currently attending a camera class and we're told that if you shoot in RAW you'll need specialist software.
Mind you, your camera would have included software on the CD and it MAY enable you to process RAW.
Brian
At some point it may be more useful to use Email.
I can send you my 1600+ safari shots
