swiss cheese

 i bought some "swiss cheese" and i wondered, who keeps putting the holes in it? why? does the store charge us for the air traped in the cheese holes? how can you have a domestic swiss if you are not in switzerland? what do the swiss call it? cheese? american? rubber?
