8/6/1999......I wish I could slow down these entrys......but s**t keeps happening.
Monday morning Steve Mullins will be sentenced for capital murder. He plead guilty. His companion was found guilty yesterday.
Seems Steve didn't appreciate a gay friends' advances, so he and this accomplice lured the man out for a night of "partying". They then proceeded to tie him to a tree and beat him to death.
All of this I might have passed off as so much more "death of society" news....except for one thing. Steve Mullins use to work for me.
He was in my employ for about 3 months. That may not seem like very much time, but in my line of work you spend 9 hours a day, 5 days a week in the cab of a truck. You normally get to know each other very well, very fast.
I would have never dreamed he would do such a thing....but he did.
What would make a seemingly normal person do such a thing? No one can know.
As my Daddy use to say..."You can't judge a book by it's cover".

Wow, that's odd.
It seems that you are a bit shaken by it. I hope everything is OK.
I've just had a close friend do something absolutely shocking recently. Not that I would talk about it here, because I do not know the full story, and if he were to get caught he would do some serious jail time. I guess you never know.

And that's the trouble. You never know.
It probably wouldn't bother me so much if I hadn't got a good impression of him when he worked for me. My son works for me now....and I think I know him....I think.
Makes me a little paranoid.

I'm sorry
I hate fear, it's the worst emotion.
But your son is a different story. You know what he loves and what he hates. I hope you are just saying that for effect and don't really fear your son would do anything like that.
Of course I know nothing about those kind of feelings. Marrage and fatherhood are still just a daydream for me.

No...not scared of my son. I just have come to understand the fact that he is his own man, and I don't necessarily know everything about him. And I shouldn't.
Think about it. Steve Mullin's parents, I'm sure, never dreamed their son would do such a thing.

I don't know. I don't think you are born with that kind of hate. It had to come from some influence.

I don't know. I've seen some kids who's parents did everything right turn out bad, and I've kids who raised themselves turn out exceptional. Makes me wonder about the "nature/nurture" argument. Seems the "nature" folks have a pretty good argument.......but it's a dangerous concept.
