NM,
Having remembered your fondness for internal combustion engines and their containers, I wonder whether you found time to take a look at the Indy Formula 1. What with having to supervise, encourage, and generally support your Olympians in Australia, probably not.
Still, if you were in the least bit interested, you should perhaps consider paying a visit to the good Dr. E. Vibenstein.
If you haven't already been introduced: http://www.h2g2.com/U40285
Whilst the comparison F1 to Cart Racing isn't quite as bad as Cricket to Baseball, the good doctor does provide an insight into the "sport" and, more significantly, into the proposition that those "foreign johnnies" with their strange ideas shouldn't be allowed on the same race track as those nice British lads.
The suggestion here is that the Indy F1 only attracted a big crowd because of the curiosity factor. In a way, it's a pity it didn't rain. There are few sights more inspiring than a side view of a car with 40 yard plumes of spray following it, and the view from the car behind which extends no further forward than the tip of the bonnet (hood?).
Regards, p.
