It is best to get the basics of any language down first prior to moving onto the twiddly bits. This is how I came to fail my Italian exams at uni - well they would insist on teaching us 15th century italian - I mean what good is that to anyone? I wanted to learn how to swear like a trooper and be able to chat up boys not translate renaissance documents.
