MapQuest
Posted Jun 20, 2001
Is anyone else having trouble accessing [URL removed by moderator]? Neither the latest version of Mozilla nor my old standby version of NS seems able to access the front page.
Mozzy can't seem to 'see' the maps when I -do- get one.. The image is there, and pointing to the map seems to go out for an adjusted one, but nothing shows up.... Then again, Mozzy still isn't letting -me- produce a new bookmark folder (even from a perfectly clean profile) as lately as build 2001061905), though only one other person has mentioned seeing the same behaviour as I (at least on my bugzilla <#83844> bug report).
NSG (version 3.03) flies through about a zillion JS errors before telling me there's too many to deal with and then stops trying.
It appears AOL has bought it out lock stock and barrell, in which case would explain why it doesn't work.

Bleh

Mozilla broke, so for now (until I can get it hacked back together in a form that doesn't hold the ports open) I'm back to my old NSG3.04. Bleh.

BBC
Posted Mar 5, 2001
Let me say first that I do not mind reading news on BBC, and have indeed done so often in the past. I wouldn't even have minded a discreet link at the bottom of the pages to the BBC servers... but if the BBC is indeed the great benevolent benefactor of the independently enlightened as everyone is trying to convince me, then they would have been more than happy to have become silent partners, willing to simply contribute the financial backing rather than insisting h2g2 became part and parcel to the corporation. A discreet mutual link to h2g2 on their front page and the aforementioned one from h2g2 to there would have been all that was needed, and h2g2 could have went about its life unencumbered by close-minded censorship. The BBC could have went about its own business without fear that something on our little corner of the world would cause them great stress (ie: lawsuits).

Despite the bloody 'disclaimer' about not posting statements to the contrary of agreeing in the 'agreement' (Say that one twelve times) to get in here, I do NOT agree to the terms, and only checked the box because MY CONTENT was being held hostage until it was checked. I'm here to gather my stuff and go home.

Attention, Please...
Posted Jan 16, 2001
If anyone is still dropping by to peruse my journal, I have a request for some information. We are planning to home-school the youngest member of our family, but as of now, I have no idea where to start. I would like to have the county, state and schools involved as little as possible (boy, now those places are scary) while maintaining the most flexible, educational (with emphasis on continuing at the post secondary level), cultural course possible.
Still, I return to the "where to start" quandry. If anyone has any pointers to web resources for Home Schooling in the US MidWest I'd be much obliged if you could pass those on to me.
Thank you,
'Nonnie
