Winter beaches
Posted Jun 14, 1999
I've just spent the weekend at my father's house at the beach.
The weather decided that we are truly in Winter now.
Sunday was cold and drizzly but there was hardly a ripple on the sea and no wind!
Monday, which was a holiday, had rain coming down sideways, cold winds and waves crashing on the shore.
The best place was in front of the roaring fire with a glass of red in hand
I do love the beach in winter! You get so much closer to the elements as you are forced by the wind to participate.

Gallery opening

Went to the opening of an exhibition of a sculptor and a photographer.
Sculptor works in granite and marble.
Best piece there was called Black Bird.
Perfectly smooth, polished black marble shaped just like a large blackbird and resting on paler grey granite block.
Very tactile. Very beautiful.

Goofing off

I only get to write in this journal when I am surfing the net instead of working!
As I'm self employed this only affects me and my clients, not the "boss" or the company like so many people who have net connections as part of their work
[I used to be there once, that's how I know!]
Anyhow there are so many things one can do to avoid getting started on a job, and at least sharing thoughts here is more fun than cleaning up the kitchen!!
