Hi there!
In the time I've been on h2g2, a lot of new people have signed up and joined the volunteer schemes.
There was a time when I knew everyone by name, but that's impossible as this grand experiment continues to thrive.
So I've decided to pay a visit to each Researcher in the various volunteer schemes and say 'hello'.
Hello! Are you planning to do any observing during the Leonids on Friday? I'm planning to do some drinking and won't be in very good shape to do anything serious. So how's the house going?
That's all really. Just passing through!

Hey Jimi - boy, I've long since lost touch with who's who here. Keeping track is now a full-time job, I think!
The skies on Friday had small lakes falling out of them, so if there were any meteorites falling downwards from the heavens, they were very (a) wet and (b) obscured by about a mile of cloud.
The house is just gorgeous. I'm writing a piece on it at the moment, so all will become clear. We went to some really quite posh sofa shop to see what we could afford, but the only one we really liked was nearly $2,000! Our tastes are far in excess of our wallets. They were offering interest-free credit for a year, so it wouldn't be too bad. Boy, is it nice, though. Not as nice as the $5,000 one, but not too shabby either...
We're generally spending weekends hunting for furniture that is cheap but stylish, which is hard to do. Not as hard as putting up shelves in stone walls, of course, but still pretty damn frustrating. Going to an auction on Saturday at a stately home that is getting rid of all sorts of things. Might find something cool - a four-poster bed, maybe?
Cheers!
