One Accepted, One Rejected!

Hey, Look at me, I'm Famous. Right there on the H2G2 front page is my entry for beat author "Jack Kerouac", first on the list of Newest Entries. It only took them 15 weeks, but hey I'm not really complaining.
However they did reject my entry on "Ben and Jerry". There reasons for rejected were, and I quote; "We like Ben and Jerry's so much that we need some more information before we consider it for submission into the official guide. And we don't think they are demons, we think they are angels." It was written with tongue in cheek guys. I may try to write a little more info, but personally I like it just the way it is.
Let me know what you think of it. Happy travelling.

Need a spell checker!

We really need a way to edit these journal entries. I keep typing them so fast and then hitting post without re-reading them. My last entry for the KEO Sattelite sounds like it was typed by a 5th grader. My brain moves faster than my hands sometimes. I really do know how to spell, believe me.

KEO Timecapsule Sattlite

I wish there was a way to post this so that all H2G2 members could see it. I think all H2G2 researchers would be very interested in this. It's a project called KEO and it's the idea of a French Artist. It's a sort of super time-capsule that will be launched as a sattlite that will orbit for 50,000 years. It's designed to re-enter the atmosphere safely and survive the impact with the earth's surface. Inside will be a bunch CD's that will contain thousands and thousands of letters from the people of the year 2001, and a compendium or encyclopedia of human knowledge up to that point. What's great about is that absolutely everybody is being given tha chance to write something. The only stipulation is that it can be no longer than 6000 characters. He believes the just simple fact of sitting down and composing a letter describing what we feel is important and special about being alive at the dawn of the 3rd millenium will change a person deeply. Remember, 50,000 years ago, man was just beginning to paint on cavewalls. What will man be doing 50,000 years from now? What would you say them if you could? I think when I write my message, I start by saying, "Congratulations for surviving this long. Not very many people of our day thought you could do it." If you're interested in this project, go the website http://www.keo.org and read more about it. Then come back here and tell me what you would say or what you thought about the project. I'd love to hear others opinions.

Two Drinks accepted!!

Oh Joy of joy's, what a pleasant surprise to log into H2G2 to find out that two of the drinks I submitted to the Universal Alcohol Table were accepted as official entries. My first officially accepted entries also I might add. My contributions to the list were the Cement Mixer and The Trough of Love. Now if they will just get off the pot and either accept or reject my entries for Jack Kerouac and Ben & Jerry. It's been almost two weeks since I submitted them. But I imagine they're pretty swamped. Oh Well. Patience, young IgPaJo, patience.

Ways to improve this site.

As much as I love this site, there are a few things I must admit I'm frustrated with.
The search engines don't work very well. For instance if I type SPAM in the "Search the Guide" section, I get "search failed" and a list of strange suggestions that have nothing to do with SPAM. Same results with the Power Search. However a search among the user pages and journal entries reveals quite a few entries on that lovely canned meat. It seems to me the Power Search at least should search everything. Not just accepted entries.
Also they need to provide more customization features to the user pages. You should be able to edit any entry you've made on your home page. Currently if you make a mistake anywhere but the personal description space, it's there for good. No way to delete it or edit it. There should definitely be a way to delete stuff you created in your journal. Also there should be more "Don't Panic" pages on where and how you can use HTML. I know how to use it, just not where. You can definitely use it in the personal description space, but any where else it doesn't. ("Hey your code is showing.")
Just some minor gripes. I love everything else about this site and realize that it will definitely improve with time.
