Wow, nice home page! I can't believe I've been chatting to someone who knows how to put a swimming fish on their screen!!!

Sorry about that taking ages to reply, but there's now so many forums I'm in its hard to keep up.
To do coloured writing, use:
Blah, blah, text blah
where rrggbb is the color in hexadecimal, rr is the amount of red, gg is the amount of green and bb is the amount of blue.
eg red is FF0000, blue is 0000FF, yellow is FFFF00, black is 000000
You get the idea...
The last bit (the color="FFFFFF") is just to change it back to white.
The moving fish was done using Imagine 4.0 to render it and GIF movie gear to turn it into an animated GIF file.
You can get the GIF program at http://www.gamani.com but Imagine you have to buy. Its about £400 I think. I got it off a PC Format coverdisk years ago.

By the way, thanks for noticing it. You're the first person to comment on my fish (sob)

There, there now, it's a loverly fish and I'm sure everyone thinks so.
By the way, what were you talking about just then? I'll give it a go, but I'm afraid computers don't like me much. I tried putting that 'who's online' link onto my home page, but I just ended up with a lot of words I had to get rid of again!
*sigh*

It sounds as if your page source code is still in 'plain text' mode. That means that it just churns on to the screen whatever you type in.
You need to change it to 'GuideML' mode. This is the programming language that H2G2 uses.
Go to 'Edit page' from your page and the source code should appear.
Underneath there should be 3 buttons marked something like 'plain text' 'GuideML' and 'HTML'. Click the "GuideML' button, and then 'change type'. This makes the computer treat the source code as a program instead of just writing it on the screen.
You should now be able to use the links and code from the h2g2 help pages.

OK, here it is, "please put into idiot langage time....
I tryed the following....
Clicked GuideML then 'change type'
Odd words appeared on screen and were ignored.
Typed
pressed enter
typed the word Red, (not very imaginative, I know, but I was just testing)
pressed enter
typed
Pressed preview, and got !*! in red with all the typing underneath.
So PLEASE tell me what I am doing wrong
