My dad wants to know if you want some A4 paper?
and when are you due back?

A4 paper could come in handy, but I'm not desperate as I just bought 1000 sheets. As for when I'm due back, I'm not entirely sure at the moment. I'm waiting for a lift round to Alan Bisset's with a DVD drive for his new(ish) PC; we may fit it, or we might just drop it off and hit a supermarket. Either way, it'll probably take more than an hour.
That is, when George finally shows up...

In theory I'll be in all day.
In practice I might not be awake before, say, 11am...
It's just been one of those weekends.

Somewhere in the "/boot" partition, I seem to remember a plain text file called "mountlist", where you... er... list the drives to mount at bootup.

It could have been elsewhere... I haven't actually installed Linux for about three years.
Try asking on your thread in the Programmers' Corner.

I don't spose that you happen to have a power adapter for a Dell Inspiron 7500.
Either working or duff.
If duff, the problem being somewhere other than the conenctor to the laptop, so that the connector could be taken off and spliced to a working adapter.

Sadly, no, but Maplin have (probably) still got generic laptop PSUs reduced from £39.95 to £19.95...
btw, I passed on the DVD player to my pal James; he says "Thanks!". I just got my new DVD recorder, and I'm off to wire it in...
