Find your nearest computer shop and ask them nicely for some old, dead power supplies. They won't have them immediately, as they just throw them out, but if you ask them to keep them back for you for a week or two you should get three or four working fans at no cost.

Hmm, I installed mandrake (version 10.0 i think) using just one cd, and tellin it to ignore the others.
I like it, but it dosn't detect my network card. tries for a while to detect eth0 then fails.
Would that be because I didn't have the other cds? or a failure of mandrake to recognise my card.

thats what I was hoping.
so would mandrake 10.1 solve it or should i go somewhere else entirly?
I know that knoppix and xandros detected and used it fine, but i didn't like the feel of xandros.

If you can live with 10Mb/s, I could lay hands on a 3Com Etherlink III that'd probably work first try. But it'd take some digging...

well this is installing it on my main computer, and since some other distributions have worked, and I don't fancy swapping or adding a netwrok cable just so linux can connect differntly
though any network card for the one I am turning into a server would be nice. given that my broadband connection is 576 kbps down and 288 kbps up (according to my router), 10Mb/s would be fine.

If your main computer is cabled in, all you need to do is switch the network off in the BIOS and move the cable onto the new card.
Next time I come across one, I'll leave it out for you.

My dad is wondering if you have moved house.
twice he has dropped by and you weren't in, and he thinks that your windows are alittle clear.
so, have you?

No...?
Did he buzz the door?
I was a bit busy last week; there were at least three days when I was out all afternoon...?

I'm supposed to be heading out again in about 20-25 minutes... If he could make it here before then...

Wiro Posted Dec 12, 2004
I could ask, but unlikely that he would want to make the journey ... cos we have been out and come back, dropped by yours on the way home and buzzed your door. Got no answer though.

When???
My buzzer is functional (I answered the door to someone else earlier) and I've been up and around since 11am.

I should add that I was out all last night at a Mudshark Binge (which he really should have attended; Turkish food was awesome!) so before 11am I was dead to the world, and probably wouldn't have noticed anyone buzzing.

Nope, my buzzer was on, I was in and nobody buzzed.
When he thought my windows were a little clearer, where exactly was he? I think you got the wrong house.
