Howdy, Frink! Just wanted to let you in on a bit of a get together in Denver. We're in the midst of organizing it at http://www.h2g2.com/A447626 . I thought we might persuade you to visit this beautiful city again - if your RL isn't quite as hectic as it has been, that is! smiley - bigeyes

Anyway, I figured that we couldn't plan this kind of thing without including the author of the official Guide entry on Denver. smiley - winkeye Feel free to stop by and check it out. (Plans are very sketchy right now, so there's even the possibility that we can set it up to match your schedule.)

So what else is happening with you? I fear that RL is interfering horribly with the amount of time that I am on-line so I haven't gotten to keep up with folks as much as I might like. Darn it! smiley - winkeye

The Ghost Of TV's Frink

hello there Gw7en, how are things in Denver?

I actually live fairly close to Denver now - I moved to Albuquerque a few months ago. I also took a few months off between jobs, which were the best months of my life. Good-bye alarm clock! Unfortunately, I'm not independently wealthy, so now I'm back to waking up before the sun comes up..........

The odd thing is that I had all this time to do whatever I wanted, and that was the exact time that I stopped visiting h2g2. Now that I'm working again, I've come back to h2g2, although much less often than before. I wonder why that should be?

At any rate, thanks for the invite, but I'll probably pass for now. I hate to admit it in such a friendly place as this but I still feel odd about a real-life get together with people I only know through the internet. It isn't that I'm worried about my health or anything like that........but let me think about it a little bit. Right now I don't have plans to visit Denver until January or February, so if something were to be planned around then I'd probably consider it. I suppose I could also be convinced to drive up in the spring or summer (when the weather is nice) to visit some friends, and maybe pop in on a get-together then - driving would give me the flexibility to come up whenever everyone else was ready...........

How is that for an unsatisfactory answer?

Your answer makes perfect sense, even though I am a bit disappointed that you won't be joining us. The truly amusing thing is that I was in Albuquerque only a little over a week ago - Erik, Nancy and I went to the Grand Canyon and chose to go through NM rather than UT. Not that we really had time to stop, but its still somewhat amusing. smiley - smiley

I understand what you mean about feeling wierd meeting these folks IRL. Fortunately for me, the first person I met IRL was Marv, and he turned out to be just as fun in person as on-line. Also, I've known at least some of the folks that I'll be meeting from my pre-H2G2 years, which makes things much easier.

We still haven't set a date or time for the get-together, as far as I know, but once we meet, I'll tell you about everyone. That way it won't be quite such an odd experience. smiley - winkeye

The drive up the Front Range would probably be best in May/June - after the major storms but before the heat hits. (Of course, you'll be getting used to heat in NM...) If you do come up, I'd love to get a chance to say hi. Ultimately, that is up to you though, and I certainly don't want to put any pressure on you.

The funny thing about you not logging on when you had the time is that I do the same thing. When I go on vacation or call in sick, I almost never touch my computer. Get me into work, though, and I'm on-line most of the time. Strange, ain't it? smiley - smiley

So, now I have sent an unsatisfactory answer to your mystifying question. smiley - winkeye Puts us about even, don't you think? LOL

Yeah, but if I only show up here once every few weeks you won't be able to trace my calls!

Ok, I admit that I don't have my New Mexico geography down yet - where is Lincoln County? Any towns there I've heard of?

Lincoln County is dead center. US 25 runs from Alamogordo to Albuquerque: you head east on 380 at San Antonio (about halfway between) and go through Carrizozo to Lincoln.

It's lovely country-side. And chock full of history too! smiley - smiley
