Von pardon enough or too much??

Hey the japanese use us the way we all use you!
But yeh, if you think its really bad, try living here. I often think that is the root of most of my problems. I hate american television, advertisements, slaughter of natural resources, the rape of other countries. So basically I sit around all day noticing how horribly unprioritzed everything is in the land of plenty. If you ask me its the land of plenty uneeded shit. But the one thing holding me back is that I'm afraid of going from something bad to something immensely worse. Damn, we can't even skip our 4th trip to McDonalds to save cute little ethernopian from starvation. ah, I'm so bitter. Do you guys really like to collect american cultural plastic trashies??
Von pardon enough or too much??
Ac-1D Posted Feb 16, 2000
I don't collect them, I try to feed them to babies when their mum isn't looking. but there are people here who are almost as american as americans. (actually because there's a big american boatrace on there's a whole lot of americans here too. least there was till those smarmy italians wiped them out.)
in some ways that trash culture is quite interesting especially some of the crazy things the japanese devote resources into mass producing but it mostly just makes me queasy.
it must suck to live in the middle of the hive. when are you planning to escape?

Imaldris Posted Feb 16, 2000
Beware of the hive. New York is slightly better but only slightly...very slightly, ....minutely slightly. I'm thinking I might foreignly exchange myself next year to some country who wants me, but only if i spruce my grade point average up a bit. If not then I'll take my walking papers after college is through which is may 2001.I'm planning to go to grad school out of the states...but where? who knows? The only thing I know for sure is that I WILL, MUST, escape or the remnants of my sanity may be forfeit.

Von pardon enough or too much??
Imaldris Posted Feb 16, 2000
It definitely seems like one of the better options...I'd like to know I can find some smoke wherever I go. The way you talk about new zealand, it seems purty nice...And I'm not too up on England. We have a sister school that we exchange with in nz but i can't remeber the name of it...blah. Do you have fabulous accents in nz? I need to hear fabulous accents wherever I end up.....
Von pardon enough or too much??
Ac-1D Posted Feb 16, 2000
it's hard to know. we think americans have funny accents but we all talk normally (ie we don't have accents at all. it's you guys who have the accents.)
Von pardon enough or too much??
Imaldris Posted Feb 16, 2000
Most americans admire foreign accents. I'm only happy I wasn't born in the south, the southern drawl doesn't appeal to me too much, and the new york city people have this horrible gutteral thing going on, Eh, Maryeo haw awe you (tranlsation; Hey mario, how areyou??) ack, but I suppose i have an accent too then.... do you have accents like australians?? Cmon, be frank or mario if you please....
Von pardon enough or too much??
Ac-1D Posted Feb 16, 2000
not as nasal as australians. I haven't found a similar accent to compare it to but when we say six we pronounce it sicks whereas australians say sex and americans say seeks or secks.
or something. my friend kenneth the scottish dijeridu player has a wicked accent.

was that a yawn or a scream or a sigh of relief?? it's hard to tell with your accent.
(or were you just screaming at a stranger?)
Von pardon enough or too much??
Imaldris Posted Feb 16, 2000
a scream at secks strangers..., 12345sex thats pretty humorous.... hmm....accents are wonderluf. I was getting very annoyed at trying to update my page a five or sex minutes ago, so i came out for a moment to scream into a forum at you. You know fun people with accents, it's not fair that I have to be with all of my stinky american counterparts.

some american accents aren't too bad it's just the weaselly ones that sound really off-putting. I actually have several american friends who live over here and they've all got different accents, none of which really get on my nerves but I have met some, and seen some on TV (before I threw it away) that drove me nuts...
I used to sing with an american accent because all the songs I taught myself to play were american. I'm curing myself of that affliction though.
"I liiike amerriken museck, d'yall like amerriken museck, don't yew liiike amerriken mewseck tew, baybeeee?...."
Von pardon enough it gives me gangrene.
Imaldris Posted Feb 18, 2000
Mmm... yes I can see how the Violent Femmes would represent the american masses. I don''t really like a lot of american music myself, but I grew up in the self hate period of america, The last of the X..... so I think I'm excused...

unfortunately I was caught in the wave of grunge that washed over america and all it's clones (like new zealand) and for awhile I even had a flannel shirt and a moth eaten woollen beanie and long hair. luckily just as the last of the grunge melted away down the sinkhole (where it probably caused quite a blockage), I was extricated from the predicament by the sudden development of a personality and some ability to differentiate myself from the other 14 year old sheep I was going to school with.
now the music I like most is mostly not american.
Von slushie grungeteen shitty american music. sheep...pig...3 kinds.
Imaldris Posted Feb 23, 2000
I liked the grunge scene ok. i still like Nirvana...but I had no idea that grunge got all the way over there too....it must've been the fleas that all the dirty grunge lovers had.. What was the attraction to flannels all about anywho?.I still wonder at americans who like american music. most of it really sucks ass. I think I like perhaps 3 or 4 but they tripped straight out out of the seventies and into my lap.

I think the american scene is aimed at really young people with no personalities, like britney spears and all that crap. it means that they get 'em while they're young and some people never break free.
plus it's a money thing some people can't appreciate music that hasn't been marketed at them and if there's one thing the american music industry does have it's 10 million marketing executives (they outnumber musicians about 2 to 1).

Blemishes....they are all blemishes.. I think its just getting silly. When music is no longer used as an art or a form of expression (unless the expression you appreciate receiving is 16 year old girls stradling chairs in catholic school outfits saying "hit me baby one more time ) where is the reason for its existence? It's just lost its taste, as it has been doing in a fast progression for the past 25 years ( of course I've had to be around for them)... On the other hand I almost appreciate their media frenzy based on trash, since it makes sure people have to work to find cool music and therefore appreciate it and think about it more,. which is okay.It weedles out the nonentities. It just really evils me that so many people like such shitty music...I just can't understand it.

nor can I.
hanson. go figure. boy bands, spice girls, teen princess mickey mouse whores. they're all so ridiculous I just about want to cry.
in fact if I didn't have ricky martin's excellent music to comfort me I think I'd just break down. he's not like all those others. he's so real and sincere with his songs that I know he understands what's going on...
