It's always good to compare notes with another researcher to such a remote area as this. My own most posting here began some years ago as a student, and seems unlikely to end anytime soon. The ailment is described by the locals as "Potomac Fever" and there is no known antidote. While originally thought to be a mere variant of the more ancient and well-known Greek condition of "hubris," it appears to afflict some who do not make their living by bureaucratic one-upmanship. At times, the Fever appears to be a side-effect of the poetic movement from an autumn compared favorably to Paris', to a springtime that is approached no where else on the planet. The other possibility is that it's just the result of politico-flatulent inertia. Just a theory.
