It was sent to a friend of mine when we were working in Romania. Apparently it was inscribed/posted on the door of an abandoned store in America - small town Colorado or somewhere.

Sounds like something which might have come from a little place called Manitou Springs, then... Just west of Colorado Springs, sits more-or-less between two mountain ridges (or so I'm told) and seems to be full of rather .. erm.. 'free-thinking' individuals. smiley - winkeye

Ah, yes well
the Mods have told me they've had to remove my guide entry (introduction) for copyright reasons - i.e the Search.
But as it was still there just now, I will leave it until they forcibly remove it.

That just happened to me to! They removed my page for copywrite reasons, but it was mysteriously still there! I emailed them, and they said the quotes were short enough to be OK, and they had *forgotten* to tell my they had reinstated my entry. Maybe the same thing happened to you with the searchers quote. Which by the way I really like!

Well, someone sent me a link to this site where you can get your name translated into various Middle Earth languages - Elvish, Dwarvish, Hobbit, Orcish if you want!
and Luinëdaliel is the elvish for my full name - apparently! They give you a root, and then male and female varieties of the name.

I wouldn't hold it sacred or anything - but it's fun nonetheless smiley - smiley

I see. What is your name that it is Elvish for? I assume some one actually reasearched Tolkiens languages, that they aren't just making it up? Maybe I will go check it out.

I went to see it, can't decide if I think it is genuine or not, but fun neverthe less! I did a couple forms of my name, the doubt I had was that non of them were remotly alike and Athena was in all of them. smiley - erm It was smiley - cool though!

LOL Yeah...
Luinëdaliel is the Elvish, according to that, for my full name - Hannah Jane Swithinbank.
But leave out the Jane and it becomes Nuquernagoniel - which I didn't like so much!

Yeah - Hobbit, LOTR, Silmarillion and the Unfinished Tales.
I think I'm starting to turn into something of a Tolkein geek...

Yes, I have read them all as well, multiple times. I didn't really like the movie though, they focused all on the action and left the sadness, beauty, and magic out of it.

I dunno - I howled like a baby when Gandalf fell in Khazad-Dum and the fellowship were griefing, it had never quite hit me before that they didn't know what I knew in advance.
And I found I liked Boromir much more in the film than in the books

Hmmm thats interesting. They just changed so much. Like that whole bit. It was Gandalf that wanted to go through Moria, and Aragorn who said beware in the books, it was opposite in the movie! And then when he fell, they changed the bit about them grieving, wveryone has the srong lines and such. I don't know. I think they could have been much more true to the story.

smiley - cheers
