h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Well I'm sure some individuals are like that. I'm trying to insure that it's not me, because you start with you and I start with me. I can't start with you and you can't start with me.

I both spend a lot of time at my User Page and read other people's stuff, and I'm hoping to continue to find ways to get people to not just write at each other or back and forth. I'm hoping to find some kind of level of interactivity, where people actually write together, and talk to one another instead of just at one another.

Maybe they should start some kind of forum where we can all unite to write the sixth book in the trilogy.

I think the odds of Douglas Adams participating in QuadBee are equal to one to the power of a very large number to the power of one against. So as soon as I get a hold of an infinite improbability drive I'll give him a phone call.

One of the reasons I've tried very hard to write the principals out of QuadBee is because I think only Douglas Adams should have the option of writing Arthur Dent into the story directly. However, I'm rapidly changing my mind about that, and am contemplating a new project.

When we finish the Big Bang Burger Bar I have something else up my sleeve. I may start working on it soon as I finish my short story contribution to the QuadBee project. I plan to learn from the many mistakes already made while structuring QuadBee, and incorporating the lessons into something even hoopier.

Wish me luck! First things first though we need to finish up QuadBee.

Well it seems that people don't want to write in an alternate reality from DNA's. I mean it seems to be stifling people's creativity. Perhaps if they had the option to actually write stories about Arthur and them, more people would be interested in participating.

So I'm examining the possibility of broaching a new project to the h2g2.com community. In this project, everything that has occurred thus far in the five books up to the final scene in Stavro Mueller Beta. At that point, something else would occur than what I suggest with Jacob's Tale in the Big Bang Burger Bar.

What? I don't know yet. I'm thinking there might be a way to explain that instead of causing the universe to crumple in on itself, the Guide Mark Two just cancelled itself out. It had brought Earth back for Random at the same time it destroyed it for the Vogons. So it was both on the planet Earth and in the Vogon ship. However, we followed the Guide Mark Two from when Ford Prefect stole it to when Random used it last. It must have gotten into the hands of the Vogons either 1) before Ford Prefect aquired it or 2) after the Earth was destroyed. However, the Guide was ON Earth when the Earth was destroyed, and simultaneously disappeared off the Vogon ship after the Earth blew up.

So it basically killed itself. I think. Even if the Vogons had used it prior to Ford Prefect stealing it, the Guide Mark Two ceased to exist at the point the Earth was destroyed. So it wouldn't be able to do further damage.

Unfortunately, Arthur, Ford, Random and two Trillians were all on the planet at the same time the Guide was so they're all dead too.

Zaphod's missing though. And there are other Arthurs and Fords and Trillians in alternate realities. Zaphod may be able to find a way to save the others without saving the Guide Mark Two.

Provided he's not still drinking himself into a drunken stupor. Do you think Zaphod would actually be depressed over losing Trillian? Is he capable of depression, y'think?

It may take me awhile to figure all this out.. In the meantime we still have QuadBee. =)

How does it work?

When you click where Jim Lynn's page says don't click, this screen pops up saying who's online at the moment. Who's actually active in h2g2.com. Very handy, although this is the first time I've noticed it useful for getting people to chat online.

Even though you might see who's online, you don't know what page they're looking at so you can't go bug them immediately.

That's probably a good thing. =)

Yes you can : by going to their home page. you click on the name and it will send you there. Then just check their latest postings and walla - you know where they are. Thats how I found out you here.

I have only just come on line. I tried to instal tesco's free net and I wish I hadn't. it nearly took over my computer, leaving no way to get rid of it. For others who try, my advice is don't.

I would love to come to an eyeball (as known on the CB) but cannot commit myself due to pressures of work. When the time gets a bit closer, I may have a better Idea what time I will have available. Good for Ginger, and if I cannot get there, I wish the eyeball every success.

WHY??

because if you and I talk and answer each other in a short time period and no one is entering faster. You end up on the front page. that is why most items that end up on the front page are almost certainly being used like a chat forum.

Beat you to it. I put it on my page at the weekend. Its great just click and see who is on line- just click the underline dash at the top of the page and it is there to check all the time no matter who's page you are on.
