Stabbed myself in the hand with a kitchen knife this morning while separating a couple of frozen crumpets. It’s okay though – the doctor in the A&E department was very sexy and made the whole experience worthwhile

The RSC are quite good really. Saw two plays last week. A Midsummer Nights Dream and Volpone by Ben Jonson. Volpone was better but they were both very enjoyable. Made a change from going to the cinema anyway!

A year ago today my friend Richard was out on a bender with his mates. By tomorrow he will have been dead for a year.
Statistically, more young men under the age of 25 kill themselves than any other group.
Richard was my friend – now he’s just a statistic.
Stupid git.

Monday 20th September

I'm back from my close encounter with killer mosquitos and Hurricane Floyd. Had a great time but was plagued with disaster as usual i.e. cancellation of Manic's gig; didn't get ticket to free concert in Central Park so no Bowie for me; didn't spot any stars despite being in town at the same time as the MTV Music Awards and fashion week (unless you count Henry Rollins on the subway - nah, didn't think you would).
Highlights - clubbin, pizza, sunshine, Abercrombie, Blair Witch, MOMA, breakfast and beer. Along with all the sight seeing - a pretty great break in the capital city of the world!
