Peter Sallis was Clegg in Last of the Summer Wine. "Peter Jones was.. the book. Simon Jones was Arthur Dent, Geoffrey McGivern was Ford Prefect..." and so on. He also voiced the Equinox "Unravelling the Universe" episode and can be heard on Radio 4 some wedensday evenings if you're lucky.

Thanks, I'm always getting those two mixed up - its my age (poor old thing), I'll update my page forthwith.

OK. What age is that? Aren't old people sure of everything so that they can accuse youngsters of knowing nothing? At least all the ones that fought in two world wars for the likes of us are dead. It got really irritating having to explain that if all soldiers in all armies had refused to fight they'd have won even if they'd been banged up for deserting.

Peter Jones is often to be found on Just A Minute on Radio 4. I am not a mum, and fare from it. My mum listens to R4, so I have an excuse !

Congrats for being a Netscaper (else BLINK doesn't work.
Peter Sallis was indeed Clegg; Compo (Bill Owen) died recently (hopefully the programme will follow shortly as it ran out of ideas halfway through the first episode of Series 1).
But, more importantly, Sallis was - and is - the voice of Wallace.
Ta-ra, chuck.

I listen to R4 of my own volition and am only 23. What's more, I used to listen to "Today" whilst doing my paper round between the ages of 13 and 18. I listen to R3 whenever they're not playing Mozart or depressing piano concertos but draw the line at R2. I've stopped listening to R1 as you never know when Moyles might suddenly appear.

I remember writing to the controller of Radio 4 when I was 23 and the programmes were starting to get dumber, ostensibly to attract a younger audience. I asked them how much younger they wanted, and who would be serving the older audience in the absence of Radio 4. They never replied.

Swine. Try it again now that they have email and you don't need to pay for a stamp each time you ask. I've been asking R1 if they care about the fact that future generations will have no idea what a decent tune is due to their extremely restricted playlisting. Nothing back yet. I've been congratulating them on banning Status Quo to encourage them in case they don't like being insulted. I'll have to see if MAH's new rock show plays entirely new things or music from across the ages.
