The goings-on at Etretat sound bizarre! Maybe it's not being English that brings out such eccentricity but being an English artist. From the Romantic era, artists were supposed to be a bit different from other folk!
The Dieppe-Newhaven ferry still plies of course. Having left charming Dieppe, I'm always rather ashamed to come into Newhaven and see an enormous pile of scrap metal on the quayside.
