I need to move on.

I didn't get anywhere in the Cinnamon Press competition with Dreaming in Stone, which means either that it isn't much good, or the competition was very strong, or both. Of course, there are lots of books by people who've bought up old houses in France, most of which show them meeting quirky locals and winning through. Although I've rather turned that genre upside down, my novel is probably just not original enough.

I ought to self-publish it. I know people here have used Lulu.com and I'll consider that

Hey luvvy! I bet some of the most recognised writers around have at some time in their lives entered work into competitions and not got anywhere.

I know this happens all the time in the music world, when an artist produces an album. Or did, anyway.

When Meatloaf and Jim Steinman made Bat Out Of Hell, they got rejected by so many record companies, they reckoned that new record companies were setting up just for the purpose of rejecting them. . Eventually, though, Bat Out Of Hell became one of the best selling albums of all time, selling at least 40 million copies the world over.

Disappointing for you though. Although self-publishing is good. We have a friend who has been working away at his writing for years, and is quite a well known poet these days. He still self-publishes all his books.

Meanwhile, I wait, patiently, for my copy of Dreaming In Stone. heheh.
