Kiddies
Posted Jul 11, 2002
The baby has started to turn over now - and she has really taken to the activity gym (the flat mat with all the little toys dangling over it). It's hard to believe it but she is getting more beautiful each day. Those big wide smiles would melt your heart...
And, our little fella celebrated his third birthday a few days ago too, so once again the house is chock-a-block full of new toys. I have recently found out the joys of reading to him at night (why didn't I think of that ages ago?), so he is no longer going on roaming forays for hours upstairs after we put him to bed during the evening.

I saw something strange last night
Posted Jun 6, 2002
My wife and I were sitting in the conservatory last night when my wife looked up and said - oh there's a plane passing over. Being a bit of a sky enthusiast I popped outside to see it, and I was completely mystified. It didn't look like a plane - in fact there were two objects shining quite brightly (maybe as bright as Jupiter, if not brighter). One object was following the other along the same arc in the sky, but as we continues to look, the second object actually began to catch up on the first object, and it passed it out just overhead of us (it might have been parallax, I don't know). I thought it might have been the International Space Station, but it was over the Pacific at the time, and there were no bright satellites in the vicinity (well, nothing that bright). The ISS did pass over an hour later, but it seemed dimmer, and slower, compared to the former two objects.
They could have been planes, but there were no flashing lights, no vapour trails, and it was long after sunset, so they would have to have been very high altitude for them to shine so brightly.
The jury is out.

She is starting to smile! And what a smile it is ! There is nothing more uplifting than getting this huge from her face when you start making silly noises in front of her!
We had to convert the little fella's cot into a bed recently because he was doing commando stunts out of it at 4.00 in the morning . Now, we are usually rudely awoken at 5.00 each morning with muggins (with yellow blankie, of course) seeking to climb into bed with the two of us.
Work over the last few weeks has been pretty awful, but it's getting better now, as I am moving into a new role in the company.

You know, she has been just great. She sleeps well, feeds regularly, and cries only when she needs to. And the elder young'un has been brilliant also - he is mad about her, and very gentle with her. She's a little darling.
Over the past few days, I have seen more than my fair share of documentaries and stories about greviously ill children, and I am really thankful for what we have - two healthy and happy kids. My heart goes out to those parents who have been less fortunate.
