I didn't watch that one. I did watch Pittsburgh and Washington. Can anyone tell me what Ivan Hlincka was thinking? He's got two unbelievable scoring lines, and he waters down the one in an effort to create a third.
Here's a toughie for the Caps... with this line on the ice, who does your defense key on? Grinder/checking forward Kevin Stevens, who has probably never scored more than 30 goals in a season? Career third liner Alexei Morozov? Or is it the guy they call Super Mario?
No wonder they got shut out. They had a similar choice when Jagr was on the ice. And if anyone thinks Jagr is better on his own than he is with a Lemieux on his wing, they have only to look at his early season performance.

You've got the day off. Try calling the Psychic Friends Network to see what Ivan was thinking.
Here I am, with no plans for tomorrow morning, and ABC in my area will only be showing the Wings/Kings. Drat. The loss of Shanahan and Yzerman gives your team an edge, Colonel.
*insincere voice*
Gee, I hope they don't blow it...

I saw a vicious hit on Lemieux during one of the replays. I was almost surprised when he stood up afterwards.
That game, however, cool as it may have been, could hold nothing on the Avs last night.

I was amazed that Mario is so tough. I must admit that I only paid passing interest to hockey by the time he retired. Since his numbers were fairly similar to Gretzky's I figured he was of the same mold... skillful, with good vision and quickness, but a fairly wimpy player. I had no idea he was so strong until I saw him in one of his first games back, against Washington, the first team to actually challenge him physically. People would push on him, and he'd just throw them down.
I almost forgot to mention Shanahan and Yzerman in this forum. Who is receiving the bruises again?
And my work schedule has been redone. I'm working today when I shouldn't be, but that leaves me free to enjoy game 2.

Woo-hoo! Good to hear you get to watch the game, CS.
I'm only working a half day today, but the time is flowing like molasses in MT in December... (FG, I have no doubt you know what I mean. )

Time is going by very quickly up here. My co-workers brought in chocolate and candy for everyone to celebrate the Easter weekend, and now I'm hopped up on a sugar high!
Molasses in Montana in December?
So, now what days are you working Colonel?

It's just a one-time thing. I had to readjust my schedule because, while there are 6 of us here, there are only two of us who can be trusted to make sure the rest of them don't screw things up beyond all recovery. The other one needed to be home on my days off to let the plumbers in the house, so we swapped days off this week.
Then next week, I get to change shifts. I get to work from 7:15-3:45. The idea is that we get exposed to what the others do. I did my time on graveyard, and my boss knows this, but I'm not getting any sympathy, much less reason. So I'll be missing some games anyway... just different ones from the ones I would have expected to.
Time is going very slowly for me here. There are almost no users out there, and they are being very unproductive, so I have nothing to do but hang out here and talk about hockey.

FG, I actually lived in Helena for several years, which is why I made the comment. I remember trying to make a pecan pie and having the molasses refuse to move entirely.
CS, that schedule sounds just bizarre! Tell your boss that he need to get cable and put in a small tv there.

Welcome to Hockey Talk!

Too bad, however, that *I'm* too busy to just hang around. Besides, I have no more good jibes I can get in...I'll have to think of some more.

The sad thing is that we have a Freakin Huge(tm) monitor right in the center of the console room. We also have a live cable line in the break room. It would take very little technical skill to bring the two together. My boss doesn't properly appreciate the benefits.

Well, maybe if you try to convert your boss the same way you're converting your girlfriend...a little mood lighting courtesy of the TV, a little beer, the couch...

And what woman wouldn't? What could be more charming, sexy or romantic?
"Honey! Turn on the game, 'cos I'm in the mood!"

I'd hate for it to be like that... I'd hate to start making the association in my mind, creating a Pavlovian reaction. After all, if I started getting aroused every time hockey came on, even *I* would have to start questioning my sexuality.

Hi kids, miss me? I just got home and the second thing I did was check the hockey scores (email comes up automagically so take it for what it is worth). Glad to see that my boys won the forst two games. We should let Van take one at home so the fans there can feel somewhat happy (not too happy mind) and then win it at home.

I certainly wouldn't object to taking the series in five. I have to say, though, that - because the games were both such nailbiters - I really wouldn't object to us takin it in four, either...

True, but the real reason is we want all the home games we can get to get ticket revenue which will allow us to afford all three big name free agents, Roy Sakic and Blake.

Blatherskite the Mugwump - Bandwidth Bandit Posted Apr 17, 2001
You're not allowed to sign Blake. After so many years of absolute incompetence at the front office, the Kings are going to pull of the coup of the century. We're going to re-sign him in the offseason. The sum total of the trade would then be Deadmarsh, Miller, and Aulin (Mr. Future Considerations) for rookie center Steven Reinprecht.
No? Well, one can dream, can't one?
Congrats to the Kings, for finally winning a game in the postseason. And maybe one day, they might even win a series.

I am glad tat the Kings won tonight. That keeps them within one game. They need to steal one in Det and then win again at home. Good luck to the team and to you the fan. I am enjoying the use of my new hub right now. Too bad I cannot get the game to come up in realplayer just now. The Av's are tied after three. Overtime playoff hockey rules.
