Why not expand the kudos to include the particular researcher as well? It would make it a little more personal.
Speaking of personal--I resent your bringing up the activities in the Santa forum, *again*, Archbishop.

It's quiet, too quiet out here on the Western Front.
I suspect everybody will be watching the same thing tonight, 8pm Mountain Standard Time.
And may the best team win!
Cheers!

It will be a great game. I am trying to get out of work early to see it.

Now, where was Patrick Roy last night? Perhaps the Avs need Cujo in net....

I wish I could disagree.

It looks like the 8-day layoff hurt a certain goaltender. Even Glen Murray tried to justify that soft first goal for Roy (he's the guy that fired it in) by saying he thought it was deflected off the defenders stick... but even if it was, it would have happened almost immediately after it left Murray's stick, and so shouldn't have fooled him at all.
Colorado outshot, out-hustled, and outplayed the Kings... except for their 19th players. Potvin was MUCH sharper than Roy. And I can't tell you how long it has been since any Kings goaltender has been able to come up big in a he layoffs... we're probably talking Rogie Vachon days...

All I can say is I hope the Roy has been worked hard in practise. I do not expect a repeat performance today. I agree that the long rest hurt more than helped with Roy, however it allowed Peter the Great and Borque to heal some. I do hope that today's is a better game. Nothing personal GB I just *really* want to see the Av's win this year, if they do not they lose perhaps two of their three free agent marquee players.

I hope to see some improvement from my team today... although I won't be actually watching...
The Kings let the Avs control the puck too much in the last game, and did a poor job in their own zone of staying with their assignments. Part of that can be attributed to the great speed and agility of some of the Avs forwards, but some of it was just plain blown assignments. That goal by Drury in the first made the whole team look bad... and so did the power-play goal in the third. I didn't get to see the one in the second, so I don't know if it was the same story.
And nothing personal, but I don't care if the Avs win another postseason game...

I did not get to see any of the game save for Ray Bourque's stick save miracle that resulted in the first goal. Now the series moves back to LA where the Av's have not played well in the past few years. Looks like it will be a great series.

I think you're right about the effects of that long a layover on Roy's goaltending. Sakic mentioned in a pre-game interview that the Avs practice harder and better since Bourque joined the team--Ray takes practice seriously, checking and expecting to be checked--I guess Roy was not challenged enough.
I did not realize Sakic will be a free-agent after this season. Do you see him leaving Colorado?

If the Av's do not go all the way to the finals they likely will not ahve the budget to sign Sakic Roy and Blake who all will be free agents next season. I would think that the order of prefrence would be Roy with Super Joe a close second and Blake may be a Rent-A-Player for the playoffs. But that would also depend on if Sakic wins the MVP trophy as he most definatly should. If you could count just half a season I think that Potvin would win the Vezina.

I will say that Bourque's stick was behind the goal line when he swatted out that shot... I will say nothing more on the subject...
Sakic is a shoo-in for MVP. I think that Sean Burke should win the Vezina... that guy did the job all year long behind some awful defense. In his time in LA, the team made a concerted defensive effort (mostly because everyone had to help fill the Blake void), so Potvin saw an average of 20 shots per game. In his five shutouts, he saw more than 20 shots only once. Burke saw 30+ almost every night.

I will say that the puck went into the corner and physics dictates that the puck itself could not have been behind the goal line to do so, and I also will leave it at that.
You may be right calling Burke the Vezina canidate. I will miss at least the first period tomorrow as usual (Damned late shifts). Big game for Blake tomorrow, I do hope it will not effect his performance. I doubt that it will but I am afraid none the less. Deadmarsh should not be effected at all as he has played at Pepsi Center twice now against the only other team he has played for as a NHL player. I wonder how Rhienprecht will handle it being a rookie.
For the record should your boys win I intend to cheer them on as victors for the Conference Finals and possibly the cup. I say this to let you know that this year I do not mind the nature of the Wager as much as I did last year.

I was rather uncomfortable with last year's wager, because it involved teams that I can't get too passionate about. For me, there was nothing to gain by winning. This one is far more interesting.
I do have to confess, though, that, should the Avs eliminate my team, my new favorite for the Cup would be Pittsburgh. I'm just too big of a Lemieux fan, and that would be a story to remember. The Avs are trying not to lose, but the Kings and the Pens are playing with heart to get some wins.
I think the fans at Staples Center will treat Rob with all due respect. Roy, however, is a different story. The Kings have a tremendous home record against the Avs in recent history (9-1-1?), and the fans, in my opinion, are a big part of that. They have the tendency to annoy opposing goaltenders, especially in big-game situations and/or big name players. As one of the biggest names in the game, Roy has always been taunted by the home fans. One quick goal against will get the home fans going. A cool headed player like Osgood isn't going to be affected too much (and wasn't), but a hothead like Roy does play worse in that situation. That's probably why I've seen him getting shelled in LA for 5+ goals (I remember one with 8... last year, I think) on so many occasions. Home ice advantage is going to be important in this series, which is why stealing home ice in game 1 was such a big deal. Now the Avs will have to win in LA to steal home ice back. The fans there are probably just as intense as they were in the igloo shortly after 66 laced up his skates.

I agree about the Av's problems in LA, which is why I am afraid of the outcome. It should still be a good game however. If Roy can get back into his playoff persona he should be ok. Good Luck Guys

I can see where one would cheer on the Pens due to Mario's comeback, but what similar "heart" do the Kings have that can compare? This isn't a slam BTW, just honest curiosity. It is the fact they haven't made it to the playoffs since 93, or do they have a player with a history of health problems, or what?
I must also say "Good Luck" to the Avs--and let's hope Roy doesn't lose it.
