I, unfortunately, missed the game. However I saw the score and I also know that Adam Foote was injured. How did that happen?

Blondie Posted May 17, 2000
Foote was injured accidentally by Jere Lehetinen's stick. Jere was flipping a backhanded shot at Roy and Foote was skating shoulder-to-shoulder to him in a huntched over position. Both players were looking down at the ice and/or puck at the time. Because Foote was so bent over at the time, it could not even be called 'high sticking'. If Foote wore a visor (like Jere does) there wouldn't have been an injury. I know Foote was taken to a hospital during the game and he was treated and released. I didn't hear that the injury was serious or permanent (like Bryan Berard). It was NOT a cheap shot, it was just one of those hockey injuries. Personally, if I were those guys I'd be wearing a visor.
You missed a great hitting game. Joe Nieuwendyk (spelling?) of ALL people got 3 or 4 penalities!!! Great action packed game. Win or lose, I'd like to see that intensity in all the games.

Well I have seen some highlights of that incident. I will not call foul. Foote is out for game 3 at least. And between these two teams I think most every game will be like that...

Blondie Posted May 17, 2000
Yes. I agree, it will be a rough series from now on. And Jere would never deliberatly hurt someone. He's not like Brian Marchment!!!

Or others that will remain un-named I can hardly wait for Fridays game... I think that it will be a great one.

Okay. Gw7en, GargleBlaster, and Marv. You know the score, and you KNOW what you have to do. Let's see those messages on your homepages!!! How about "The Colorado Avalanche were thoroughly beaten by the superior Dallas Stars for the 2nd year in a row."!!!

Well I will put *something* up on my page.... I cannot put that up however. Look for it on Monday. I am afraid that I have not the time to do it today. See it up there soon. And Congrats to the stars. I hope that the Devils WIn

And where are your friends, GargleBlaster and Gw7en? Hmmm?
If Colorado had won, I'd cheer for NJ as well!

Blatherskite the Mugwump - Bandwidth Bandit Posted May 29, 2000
I don't know about that "thorough beating," but I will honor my part as well, although like Marv, I don't have time to see to it today. Still it was a great series, went seven (as I expected), and was well played all around.
*Grumbles about a team with Ray Borque on the blue line and all sorts of star power up front that fails to score on the power play 17 straight times.*

Ummm... well... I guess you can say it however you like...
*Wonders which series Blondie was watching, and how thick her beer goggles were at the time.*

GB, I am happy either way. Either my current hometown (Dallas) wins the Cup, or my previous hometown parades the Cup. I was born & raised in NYC, but NJ is just over the river and is consided one of the 3 NY teams. So, I won the Cup no matter what happens now! I just hope that you, Marv, and Gw7en keep up your collective ends of the bargain! Give me credit for sticking to my guns when y'all were against me!!!
P.S. If you want .jpg files to post to your page, go to: http://www.dallasmorningnews.com/ or http://www.dallasstars.com/
On The Stars page you can check out the virtual Stanley Cup!

And I do give you your due credit. I shall keep my part of this wager. But unless I am mistaken I get to choose the wording. I swear that it will be precise and that I will be giving credit where it was due. Because I have a new respect for Eddie Belfour. Any goal tender that can stop *that* many shots, deserves ccredit. Unfortunatly I fear that without his presence in this series, the Stars would have been hung out to dry with their non-exsistant defense. Alas the better team lost but I give mad props to Belfour. I still shall wear my Av's hat with pride and I can fall back on the true fans motto: Just Wait Till Next Year!!! And beside, I can rest easy knowing that Colorado beat Dallas more times this season than the other way around. In the first month of next season Roy will have his mark as the winningest goal tender of all time. To Patrick Roy, Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg, Milan Hedjuk, Chris Drury, Dave Andreychuck, Adam Foote, Eric Messier, Sandis Ozolinch, Greg DeVries, Adam Deadmarsh, Marc Denis, Chris Dingman, Alexi Gusarov, Jon Klemm, Aaron Miller, Jeff Odgers, Shjon Podien, Dave Reid, Martin Skoula, Alex Tanguay, Stephan Yelle and last but not least, Ray Bourque, I wish you well in the next season and thank you for being there this season to make a fan proud. Keep in shape and deke when you have to, we will be there next year!

Here, here! The Avs will always be there! Eddie Belfour really was miraculous, though. It was a good series overall and neither team has anything to be ashamed of. At least not in my mind.
Blondie, if you go by my page, you will find it updated - per our bet. And, I am willing to admit that the Stars will probably take home the Cup again. Will they let Hull have it, after locking it in his car, though?...

Blondie Posted May 30, 2000
Thanks Gw7en. I saw your page. I also saw that Marv updated his page as well. Yes, the commercial with Bret Hull using a coat hanger to unlock the door of his truck with The Stanley Cup locked inside was very funny. Did you notice that was Mike Modano standing there just behing the blonde bimbo? You know, the bimbo who whines "is that the Stanley Cup in there?". Modano is standing just behind her. The commercials with Ed Belfour riding in the spinning ride with the cup keeper turning green is good too. Oh, and Joe Nieuwendyk using it as a jello mold at a family party ... and then the one with Jamie Langenbrunner sucking face with this wife next to the cup .... ESPN has funny commercials all the way around!
Thanks for keeping up your end of the bargain, Gw7en and Marv. As of now, GargleBlaster has not updated his page.

marvthegrate LtG KEA Posted May 30, 2000
Well if I have to lose this bet at least it is because of a great show. I admit the Belfour was amazing. Hockey season is a mere 4.5 months away.

Sheesh. Take some time off for real life, and the whole community turns on you!
Sorry for the delay, but I spent my 3 day weekend doing real life stuff, and then had to celebrate a brother's birthday afterward. Anyway, my page is now updated, and it contains the promised graphic, nicked from ESPN.com.

Thanks GargleBlaster. Actually, that's more what I had in mind for our wager. Marv & Gw7en are you listening? If I could have found one, and I suspect y'all would have helped me to find one, I would have put an Avalance logo of some sort on my page like GargleBlaster here did. How did you do that, I want to put the Stars logo on my page! The good news is that it can't get any worse. I don't know what the hell happened, but it cannot get worse. NJ is practically my hometown, so I will be almost as happy if they win. But I'd prefer the Stars!

Blatherskite the Mugwump - Bandwidth Bandit Posted Jun 1, 2000
Technically, you're not supposed to be doing this sort of thing, because it is "bandwidth stealing." But I'm only using it temporarily, so that's alright.
As for how I did it... here's my html tag:
If your page is in GuideML, remember to close the tag with a .
Or, if you find a logo you like better, you can steal its link instead. Find the image you want, and right click on it. In Netscape you'll see something that says "copy image location," so select that. Now you've got the right address, and only need to put that into the tag.
