Blondie: I was just jerking your chain... I can't get away from work right now, more's the pity.
Ahhh, yes... Roy vs Osgood at center ice in the Conference Finals... one of the greatest moments in sports history. That rivalry has been so good since then that I like to watch when they play each other, even though I have a strong dislike for both teams.

Do any of y'all Avs fans listen to KVPI in Denver? Those hayseeds paid to run an ad on MY radio station here in Dallas. Well, our DJ's paid for an ad of their own which will run on the Denver station tomorow morning. It's GREAT, and really funny. My radio station is KEGL (The Eagle) 97.1 FM in Dallas. It's ROCK, of course. Listen for it, if you can.
I wish the series stared 2-nite ...

Also, have y'all heard the Dallas Stars theme song by Pantera? That band (heavy metal) even played live on a float in The Stars Stanley Cup victory parade last year. Perhaps you Avs fans should play the .wav of Pantera's song on your home pages as well?!?!

Osgood/Roy. That was it. Good fight. One of the few times that teams had to take penalties for goalies fighting. Fortunately, this series - while just as entertaining - was less violent. And Borque was on the ice at practice the last two days. Yay!

So in other words..... Don't expect high scoring games and our PP is better than your PK......

Yeah, this postseason the rivalry was pretty tame, but that's not the amazing thing. Near the end of the season, there was a game where, for the first time in many years, both teams went completely unpenalized. The teams: Detroit and Colorado. You know the rivalry is cooling off when they don't even manage to get in an obstruction call.

The very last game of the season was when they went un-peanlized. And it was the first penalty frre game played in the nhl in 20 years. Det was saving their stars for the post season, and Co was on fire. It was an interesting game to say the least.

I can't say that I do, normally. I was listening this morning to see if they played the song, but I didn't hear it.

The Denver radio station was supposed to play the insult commerical by 2 Dallas morning DJ's. I didn't listen to the Dallas station to hear how it went, unfortunately. Well, 2-nite's the night. Some friends of mine thought about sending hookers to the Avs hotel last night, but then we chickened out. Besides, they should lose even with all of their energy saved up!
I hope the fans are particularly obnoxious 2-nite. I shant be there in person, but I will be there in SPIRIT!

I am about to go out to dinner and begin consuming mass quantities of BEER (Molson's of course). Keep that in mind should I get on line later!
May the better team win. Unless it's Colorado, in which case I hope Dallas pounds them into the boards all night long!!!
By the way, there's this woman who sits behind the visiting team's penalty box. She writes stupid messages to show the player stuck in the box. She drove Brian Marchment NUTS. It's rather funny to see a 40-something woman doing this.
How I WISH I was going. My friends want to go downtown and scalp some tix, but I think we can see it better from our own TV or even sports bar. No lines for the bathrooms either.
Whatever. I am just glad that it's GAME ON!!! The wait was killing me ... I go through hockey withdrawls!

Indeed, however remember that there will be a very long break between gams 2 and 3... Some concert or something is holding it up.

Yes, I saw the game. The layoff really hurt The Stars. They did not play their best and the Avs deserved to win. That game sucked! But, this ain't football and there's more hockey to be played. Recall that last year the Stars were down in the series 3 games to 2 with game 6 a "must win" in Colorado. They took the next two to advance to win The Cup. It ain't over 'til it's over!
I will root for my Stars, but I admit I was worried about playing Colorado all along. Enjoy basking in the victory y'all. There's more hockey to come!

I do look forward to the next games. With the win in Dallas I think that coach Hartly will keep Bourque out till Fridays game three. Still early, but I call the series Av's in six..

Blondie Posted May 14, 2000
Yes, the Stars v. Avs series will go at LEAST 6, but I think 7 is more likely. If the Avs do advance, I shall cheer for the East!
I am from NYC, and NJD are one of our 3 home teams. Philly is where my brother and his family live now, so I would feel comfortable cheering for them as well. I hope I don't have to ... I hope The Stars advance!
The NJ v. Philly game is pretty good so far ... I am going back to it.
Key: Complain about this post
