Born in Leeds where I lived for 18 years. Apart from a brief respite in the 80's I have spent the rest of my life in Berkshire. A teacher by profession I now spend my time helping out in a centre for the mentally ill. Whilst the work is menial it will I hope lead to a future career in Community or social work.
By nature I am very gregarious and spent the younger part of my life with groups of people of all ages. Since marriage I have lost virtually all of my social life. Outwardly I appear to have changed. Inside, however, I am still down the pub with my mates or striding across the mountain tops of Scotland or the Lakes.
I have varied tastes in music. I have recently rediscovered the Beatles. My two year old son loves dancing to Led Zeppelins Stairway to Heaven album. Mike and the Mechanics, Al Stewart, Ralph McTell, The Who, Beach Boys and Paul Simon are all in my collection. I think the factor linking all these is that they write and are able to perform their own music.
Food wise I love a good curry. Being British I obviously believed that all Asians ate ferociously hot Vindaloo so I trained myself to eat them regularly.Real Asian food, with its subtle tastes and textures came as a surprising discovery.
My travelling years took me to most parts of Europe and Japan. Japan in a hot sticky summer is not a sensible choice for us North Europeans but I would love to go one spring. Greece,Portugal and the Czech Republic are among my other favourite destinations.
Science wise I am interested in Geology and landforms. These interests were directly responsible for my youthful interest in rock climbing caving and mountaineering. I also enjoy photography and, but for a horrible burglar, I would now have a great set of photos of the British landscape.
Well, that is me.
