Ms Tessa Jowell announced yesterday that the overall cost of the 2012 Olympics is now estimated at 9.3 Billion Pounds.
That's an increase from the last estimate of 3/4 of a billion pounds from the last estimate a couple of months ago, and three times the original estimate.
Things seem to be getting a bit out of hand.

Surveys of the olympic site in Stratford, east London, have revealed an infestation of Japanese knotweed where the proposed velodrome and aquatic centre are to be built. The plant could undermine stadium walls and crack concrete concourses unless every trace is removed.
The full extent of the contamination of the site for the games, including unexploded bombs and toxic chemicals, is still being assessed but the projected cost of eradication is some 70 millon pounds to be added to the 9.3 billion pounds already announced. That should just place the cost into double figures.

The Olympic Committee has unveiled the new logo for the 2012 events.
Deerie me! Perhaps I'm just slow but it took several minutes to realise it says... guess what? 2012.
What a mess, A child of seven could have done better with some sticky back paper and a pair of scissors. And the cost? Reportedly £400,000 I'm in the wrong profession.

The governmental watchdog committee has made the first intonations that the actual cost of the Olympics may 'exceed' the projected 9.3 Billion.
This is due , they say, to insufficient control and auditing of expenditure by the organising committee. Any unforeseen snags may incur significant costs that will increase the projected total.
