PASSING THROUGH ??

I'm only on Netscape but it works for me. Actually it starts off slow [sort of freeze framing] then builds up speed to the right speed, it doesn't seem too fast. Other animations I've seen do the same so there can't be much wrong, That's probably just the way it loads I suppose.
It's still pretty neat though, you're way ahead of me!
I found the mini cam again and it looks good there. Thanks for that!
All the best, A.M.

I know that you and Frank were planning to disconnect me....
And I'm afraid that's something I cannot allow to happen.....

Hi there AM. Thought it was about time I owned up to passing through, so here I am.
Glad to see my favourite quote from The Italian Job is in there! Hope the phone bill's getting more manageable. I've recently joined Localtel/screaming.net, but although I've had the final bill from BT, I haven't received confirmation that I'm now getting free Internet calls. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed!
Drop by any time.

Hello Austin Morris and A Happy New Year to you.
I've made a New Year's Resolution that each time I'm connected to H2G2 I'll drop by and say hello to at least one other researcher who's online at the same time and who I don't already know. You're today's lucky (?) recipient of a message.
My mind must be going - took me several seconds to understand why any researcher would call themselves after a car. (I guess Ford Prefect would have been just too obvious) Ahem. And me as much a Douglas Adams fan as the rest of the community here.
Never mind. I'll go off and read the rest of your page now and will probably discover you just like Austin Morris cars and weren't trying to be clever at all.
Bye

Hi M.C. Thanks for dropping by. Yes, you're quite right the name came from a fondness for old cars, I've even given a home to two of them and they sit outside home quietly rusting away in their old age at the moment. I also have a sneaking admiration for Ford Prefect because he likes to travel, but as you say, he was taken. Also, for Austin Powers, but I'm not as cool as him.
Now how about this 'Metal Chicken' ?? Anything to do with gliding perchance?
All the best A.M.

I used to share a house with somebody like you. He kept 2 ancient Honda sports cars rusting behind a hedge in the front garden and took bits off them now and again to add to the 'good' one he was building in the garage. There was also a motorbike living in the kitchen...
As for Metal Chicken, well really it just seemed like a good idea at the time. I wanted something to do with things that fly; something relating to my real world initials; something not too cute and fluffy. And did you ever see the old BBC children's TV show 'the Clangers'? It had a character I rather liked who was a metal chicken, living out in space on an asteroid-nest made of scrap metal but could always be relied on to pull something useful out of the pile of junk when asked nicely. Felt appropriate somehow so I've stuck with it.
