Hello,
I've got some problems with the title of my guide entry, it contains a german
umlaut encoded in HTML: "Göttingen an der Leine, Germany".
Problem:
The search engine doesn't find it if I look for "Göttingen", and every time I
re-edit the page the title is translated from "Göttingen" to "Göttingen",
but the body stays in HTML encoded (as originally written in). Even if I
take the translation and save again the search engine can't find it.
I don't want to change the name to "Goettingen" cause this is not correct,
either I would expect the search engine to search "Göttingen", "Göttingen"
and "Goettingen" instead of real match. This problem will probably appear with
other, language-dependent charsets, too. (e.g. scandinavian languages).
How can I solve?
Thanks in advance, kinly, yours Cooper

This is an unusual problem - I'll have to do some checking and get back to you. At a guess I'd say the problem comes from some limitations being put in when some people started having a lot of fun with lots of HTML in page titles.
BTW I see the page title as "Göttingen an der Leine, Germany" & your forum posts show as Göttingen - but I can't get the search engine to find it either unless I look at all entries starting with "G" ( http://www.h2g2.com/index.cgi?submit=new&official=on&submitted=on&user=on&let=G ) where it shows up.
I'll get back to you as soon as possible

Hi
The title being translated from Göttingen to Göttingen is your browser translating the ISO umlaut character automatically.
h2g2 made some changes recently so that the ISO characters like ö in the page contents wasn't translated by the browser during page editing, I think by sending ö to trick the browser into displaying it as entered to avoid confusion.
I've mentioned the search problem to h2g2 - maybe they will be able to provide some more information.
