Heh, thanks. I missed this post earlier today. It's an idea I had a while ago actually, recycled from one of my dormant pages.
Actually, it's a funny thing...

My friend and I were just discussing "Timbuktu" the other day - she works for...a major restaurant chain (she'd get fired if I told you which one - can you believe that?!?), and they went bankrupt because someone got the *brilliant* idea to place one of their restaurants in Timbuktu. Guess it doesn't pay to expect sand-dwelling nomads to spend $10 on a hamburger - all just to say, "Hey! We got ourselves a restaurant out in Timbuktu!". Silly capitalists...next they'll probably build in "BFE", if they can ever pin-point it in Egypt.

Or that nearby place, East BF. You know, I'd take a fairly targeted guess at the chain, too... Planet Hollywood? (You didn't say it, I did. )

Ummm, no...I have no idea what you're talking about...
*violently shakes head up and down*
Just between you and me, you understand...
And I wonder if the people of BF or East BF Egypt are offended by our Western translation of their home's ancient and sacred name?
Actually, it's a funny thing...
CrazyOne Posted Sep 9, 1999
That's why you just leave it at East BF. Egypt doesn't figure into it, the place is simply called East BF.
Actually, it's a funny thing...

You'd think they'd be after the free publicity. A mention of a name is a mention of a name.
Or not.
Actually, it's a funny thing...

I, um, don't think that's really helping out the tourism industry, though, with a name like that.
Key: Complain about this post
