I don't seem to be able to pu any pictures on my page, any idea why?

You can only use pictures from the GuideML - and you need to activate the GuideML button at the bottom of the edit page. Look for "change Style"

If you do this you will need to change the way you do smileys - the syntax for smileys in a guide entry is
<SMILEY TYPE="smooch"/> for

If you go to my new user page at <./>A719840</.> you'll get the idea - It also gives you a link to "Spicing Up Your User Page" at <./>A690518</.> which is probably just the thing you're looking for
