omigodomigod - that is 'almost 40', isn't it?
I'm experiencing some difficulty removing my other leg from the 'basically, it's not different from 28 or 29' camp.
But I do remember Choppers. I remember campaigning for a Chopper. What I got instead was a handmedown from my grandfather which must have been made in the 1940s. Man, did I get laughed at at school

You can forget all this 'basically I'm still twenty-eight' nonsense (admittedly, that appears to be my nonsense). And you can get on with looking forward to being 42 as well

I'm currently compiling a list of songs to "celebrate" getting older with.
Couple of things by They Might Be Giants, "Enjoy Yourself (Its Later Than You Think)" by the Specials, that sort of thing

Oh dear - the only things I can think of are pretty hopeless. There is a wonderful Billy Connolly song called 'Jesus Christ I'm Nearly Forty':

I can't cut the mustard like I used to
I think it's downhill all the way

Much better when you hear it - I suspect he also was in his early to mid thirties when he wrote it
I realise that's not helping very much

I'm quite philosophical about getting older
The only thing I really hate about it is I now get a hangover from 3-4 drinks so I've decided when I drink to do so to excess, just not quite as often as in my teens, 20s etc
