I'm afraid it is. But, hey - it's better than nothing.
Right, I'm obviously going to have to come up with something better to put in my guestbook's blank space to avoid this pitfall. I propose, then, to undertake a walking tour of other people's guestbooks.

Well, we're back! *eases off boots, lays alpenstock aside*
Having toured a number of guestbooks, I have reached the following conclusions.
1. Guestbooks are nowhere near as prevalent in this place as might be assumed.
2. The golden rule in guestbook management would appear to be 'keep it simple'
3. Short of leaving a blank space, it is hard to conceive of any verbal formula which would not leave itself open to coming back and finding the word 'something' or 'something here' or 'a message'. Nevertheless something has to be done.
