I'm glad you dropped by - I keep meaning to ask (I'm going to put on my UnderGuide hat at this point) you seem to spend a lot of time in the AWW and you seem to manage to read and comment on far more than most of us ever manage to: have you ever thought about signing up for the UG?

We're always on the lookout for new voices from the 'alternative' side of hootoo to chip in

What happens is this. If you sign up, you get an invite to join the UG's offsite group, the fabled Pig and Slag, which is how we communicate with each other.

Once a month, there's a week of voting. You can either nominate something you think is up to scratch for the Underguide, or second somebody else's choice (or two of the one or two of the other). Any piece that gets two votes goes through various bits of quality control and, all things being equal, heads off in the direction of the Front Page.

And that's basically it. It's friendly, it's very democratic - and, most of all, it gets the best writing on site out to the front where everyone can see it
