Ooooo...
Well, out here in the real world, I'm just having one of those days. I got up and did everything I absolutely had to do, then was faced with lots of things I could profitably have done. Had a look at a few of them, started one or two... and then just flopped. Been mooching ever since Just can't seem to do anything. As I say, one of those days. I'm sure I'll be better tomorrow. Doesn't happen all that often, but it's just hard to see the point of very much right now.
One of those days you suspect you should be having a good hard look at yourself, but can't bear it, so you just end up mooching. And, in my case, eating biscuits.
Meanwhile, here on hootoo...
I was talking to kea earlier... actually, no, I was whingeing and whining and she was gently nudging me towards doing something positive about it. But I had a look around and got to thinking...
It's probably just a natural low, everyone gets them, but I suddenly couldn't see the point of that either. Why do I come here? Why do I spend so much time here?
1. Footie, Jangley, yourself, kea, a handful of others I think of as friends.
2. The UnderGuide, which does still get my juices flowing.
3.
See, there wasn't a three This place used to be a lot more fun, I think. I know everyone says that after a while and just whinges around like a crotchetty old grandpa. But the various fora just seem to be a lot harsher and nastier than they were - the EG seems to be the epicentre of constant wailing and gnashing of teeth - large chunks of people seem to dislike large chunks of other people - and nobody seems quite sure what they're doing.
All very very very petty and trivial stuff Just having a bad day. Bad enough to wipe my PS. I'll probably put it all back later

Ah, a combination of several factors then:
1. 'One of those days' syndrome - in my case usually Monday Wednesday and Friday. I tend to take the weekend off
2. Over-hootooitis - easily remedied. Try staying away for one night. That usually cures it
3. 'Major chip on the Shoulder' and 'Whingey 'bout Ye Good Olde Days'itis - tough one. I have unsubbed from the Forum as my blood pressure just couldn't take the gnashing of teeth (mine) anymore.... but this syndrome seems ubiquitous Certainly iniquitous, anyway
4. PR/EG itis. Here I am stuck.
Can I be in a grump with you?
you want to borrow a coupla haddock?

Trin Tragula Posted Oct 30, 2006
Are they fresh?
I bet they're not fresh
No! I am King Grump and there are to be no rival claimants on my grumpy throne

Wilma Neanderthal Posted Oct 30, 2006
Fresh?
Let me see
*nibble*
Yep
they crunch
Here try one
or a couple
......
What?
Oh, not the biscuits?
Right, yes they are, Waitrose best. Chiller cabinet. Seveteen hundred hours. No doubt about it.
Here.
No.
They don't crunch
Is your PS in a safe place?

Please notice the rather diplomatic avoidance of the sensitive subject of who is the most royal grump... *pointed look* </'Squire Trin getting too big for his boots, p'rhaps?' thought>

I did make a copy. I wasn't quite that tantrummy.
I was thinking of redoing it anyway. Last time I did that, though, it was a mess for months.

Good
Do give plenty of notice, won't you? Trin stomping is a must see!!
On the subject of grumpy oldies, I have been sort of chatting with Waz. Well, not chatting exactly. She came by to show me this: A4053412 which I had not seen before. I still say that what we need is a place to go 'fix'. So a thread where we set all these moaners to work.
What *is* wrong with PR/ the EG/ the guidelines? Analyse and discuss. Propose a solution.
That way, the next time oldiemoanernumber two or three or whatever from day dot comes along and bites prey in the PT threads then says it's just not like it used to be... it wasna supposed to be like this .... t'ain't right </> we send them along there to go fix. I had a hell of a time retrieving a couple of authors after they had been mauled in PR. One is now in the EGWW, being serviced by: moi. alone. noone else and the other has retreated to her PS, Entry and all. Theya re both excellent writers and thinkers. real assets to the site.
Lend me those boots for a mo, willya?

Wilma's right - a bit of time away from hootoo would do you well. (I'm gonna be selfish and try to stop you though. Not having our daily chat would be horrid). You'll come back hopefully feeling refreshed and with a bunch positive ideas bouncing around.
If that doesn't work then you could try sticking on New Morning and putting a muffin in the microwave.
And get your PS back up. I need that to navigate around the site.

Just all the other bits *headpoints*

Well, it's perfectly obvious to me precisely what's happened here.
You were eating entirely the wrong type of biscuit
You see, whilst yer classics, such as nobnobs and choccy digestives, are all well and good as yer day to day, run of the mill dunkers...on Grumpy and moochy days, one has to take a bit more care with your choice of dunker/nibbler. It absolutely *has* to be something that little bit special, something that gives you that extra oomph factor, something that helps take the edge off the harumphyness...on days like these, and Lord knows I gets 'em by the weekload, you'd be wise to opt for something much more indulgent and chocoriffic than you would normally ingest, maybe with a bit of something creamyish in the middle, or even
caramely
I give to you...serious biscuits, for serious days

Ooooohooohooohoohoooooooohoooooooo
Do Fox still do those ones with the little bits of honeycomb all wrapped in a couple of inches of choc? I used to love those. Only one, though - if I had a second it would make me queasy all the way through till bedtime: they were that rich
Thankyou, bicciesanta
