I attended a meeting of the Oxford Jewish Friendship Club (for old codgers) last Sunday. We had an outside speaker, talking about Evacuation. She was an enthusiast for an evacuees' organisation and also an advocate for a university research project on the subject. She spoke to a group, many of whom had been evacuated and who knew as much if not more about it (she was 4 years old when she was evacuated.) She was treating us like a group of schoolchildren, as though we knew nothing. Her talk was dreadful - badly organised, going all over the place - no logic in her structure - and she spent a lot of time talking about the war in general (rationing for example). I interrupted her several times to correct her mistakes. Afterwards I immediately sat down and wrote an article on my experiences for the local Jewish community magazine, slightly different from the one I contributed to this site.
The weather is good at last. Should do my arthritis some good.
Best wishes
Harold

Hello Harold.
I dont blame you for giving her hell, I most certainly would have done the same. If you are anything like me when you write in those circumstances the words pour out faster than my fingers can translate.
We had a visitation yesterday from a BBC crew, Emma was the lady who set it all up and she said she had talked to you so you may know what I mean. It was a long hard session which produced a lot of film. we may see it in May during the VE Day celebrations which you may not know have been ordained by the Government to happen on the 10th May???? Yes I know it was the 8th May but it seems they can change history to will. Expect D Day to move to August for the next aniversary, dont hold your breath.
I will be away all next week at Berwick-on-Tweed, my new laptop will get a rest for a week as I play with my Grandchildren. My family are very close and some where with me yesterday doing their bit for the camera's, they did well bless them.
Have a good weekend Harold and above all keep smiling as you smite the heathen who think they know better than we do.
Regards Frank.
