Hello Harold,
I would say we do not disagree on very much at all. I dont feel as if I am in decay like an old building or a vintage car yet to others they see it all from a different aspect.
The saying is; Age brings Wisdom, to me all that means is we have made far more mistakes than the youngsters and once you burn your fingers remember it.
Decay to a gardener is the stuff of life. My sweet smelling compost boxes give the garden its kick start in the spring and then you start again refilling for the next spring. This whole action gives you the feel that the word decay has had a bad press.
We walked the few yards to the ancient village church yesterday to say goodby to Betty to find the church full to overflowing, Betty had left her mark on the village she was 86 going on 18. A young village girl read an eulogy she had written for Betty saying how fresh and happy she had been and how she had enjoyed seeing her each day.It was very touching that the old and young could communicate so well.
Betty had left letters to us all and a sentence struck me as valid.
"Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity, All is well" that is how I see age, we just slow down a bit.
Did you see the documentary on Stalin last week. For all his inhumanity the people missed him and wished he was back because he made Russia a world power. I heard the same from some Germans when I was stationed there, they said things had been better under Hitler as he put the name of Germany up there with the top nations.
The message seemed to be: murder and mayhem are Ok if it means you are looked on as a great nation, the mind boggles.
Off to do the shopping now and the storms have ceased at last, it is dull and humid but the rain has gone elsewhere thank goodness, we needed rain but that was overdoing things a bit.
Regards Frank.

I intended to write Dear Frank, but I am not sure now. If my dear mother, she died at 51, bless her, could read your letter about Welsh girls' mothers no doubt you would have a cheeky answer. I have her sense of fun, I think.
I was going to ask your wife for permission for you and I to take a trip down to Bridgend flesh pots. THAT I would like to see! Does your wife know you are my toy boy?
Your grandson, Matthew sounds delightful and he sure loves his grandad. You will be a busy boy when your other one arrives. Glad to hear that both your daughters are fine after the accident. Betty sounds a wonderful lady and had a moving send off.
By the way, I was dark haired, not sure about the lovely... "Oh, there's lovely." But I was different, green eyes but I won't tell you what the Americans said about them.
All in good fun, regards to your wife.
Good to be in touch with all these new friends. I am not down as a Greeter but is it all right to send to new writers? I feel it must be a fillip to them and encourage more writing.
Welsh cheers <>

Dear Elvira,
Bridgend was way before I met my wife, I was footloose and fancy free with a big plus, I could dance.
The fleshpots of Bridgend were at Porthcawl where we would all go dancing.
I met a bridgend girl on the bus going there and she was dark haired dark eyed with that typical Welsh mystery. She danced like a dream so I thought this is it and we had fun together until she took me home for tea one Sunday.
I do not need to tell you about Welsh Sundays, the tea was all home made and wonderful but the fact I was expected to attend Chapel after because if you are going to marry my daughter you better begin now.
Marry your daughter???? when did that arise!!!! "ye gods and little fishes" I am too young to marry. (Help) Welsh Mother, small dark and still quite nice looking (I did notice that and wondered if she could dance)was as fiesty as they come and I saw it in my girls eye's too, so like all good soldiers when faced with overwhelming odds I did a tactical withdrawal (Ran like hell).
Luckily I was posted out that week to Bordon in Hampshire were I got myself entangled with twin sisters in the ATS. I was quite happy to be posted out on a troopship to the land of the long male nightshirt. Before I was torn apart by a rampaging gang of women with the idea I had done them wrong (as they said in the films then).
Oh what a wondrous web we weave in our journey through life. By the time I met my wife I was ready to settle as too many women on a rope can end up hanging the rope master.
You and I in the fleshpots of Porthcawl would probably be more than the town could stand. Being thrown out of everywhere at our age is not very dignified but boy it would be fun.
Meanwhile you may have to join the queue of ladies, dog walkers, widows of friends and others who all want to look after me in my old age. my wife has a shotgun by the door at all times and has trained Benji my Westy to bite strange women. "Heh but then" all women are strange.
Regards Frank.

Hello, all you nice people. I found this site when I went looking for people in the UK to write to....or people like me who are interested in the UK>
My Bob and I had 16 wonderful trips to England and Scotland, and on to other places, .................when Bob was healthy. When he broke his hip 3 or 4 years ago it ended. His hip never really healed, and with Parkinson's, he has a dreadful time.l can't remember exactly when he broke that hip!
Yes, I am one of the older ladies.........born in the year of your General Strike. Our mother's family are from Nottingham, but their name is Brown so it is not easy to find them.
I hope I can continue to come here and read and write.
We have five children, all married, and 16 grandchildren. We still count our Amy who died four years ago at twenty four years as one of the grandchildren. This was a terrible experience, as she died due to a doctor's terrible mistake.
i wonder if you see many like me who read all they can about the UK and watch the VCR tapes and go over there whenever we can. WE count ourselves very lucky to have gone there as many times as we have.
I noticed that someone, somewhere in your groups mentioned the Television series, Tenko. I have been trying to buy another set of the tapes but to no avail. Or tapes that i can copy and return. My friend "lost' my tape and I am still uspset
Take care, you all.

11/9 - Hi Elvie, our daffodil. I have a feeling Mary has given up somehow. We haven't heard a peppe from her.
