Take a look at this A2357516 and my comments on it. I am sure that the poster believes his story is true. This is the problem with memory, we all implicitly trust our own memories.
People were used to aircraft taking off for up to 1,000 bomber raids since 1943. So the sound of fleets of aircraft would be nothing new.
