i'd just like to say welcome to h2g2 and "watashi-wa nihongo-ga wakarimasen" (which hopefully means i don't speak japanese )
i thought i'd pop round and say welcome to h2g2...my brother is studying japanese at the moment, and a few years ago he spent 6 months in osaka...and a couple of years ago he was in japan for a year, and me and my family went to visit him for a few weeks...so i have been to osaka very briefly too! it's a nice city
i see you like ing...have you ever been to niseko ski resort in hokkaido?

Hiya Cleba ,
Nice to see you. I'm surprised at knowing that you visited Osaka, my home town. Actually I don't live (of course) in the centre of Osaka where is tooooooooo busy place to live.
I'm 40, too old woman. But I've been skied for alsmost 31 years.
Unfortunately I've never ever been to Hokkaido, I usually go to Nagano to ski, where Winter Olympic was held on several years ago.
I visited England in 1989 and stayed in Exeter for about 5 months and a few weeks, after that I visited London and stay for about 2 weeks before I went back to Osaka.
I studied Emily Bronte at postgraduate course here. But my English is not enough to make me satisfy, I still keep studying English.
The current problem is that I have not any native English person here to have a chat, so my speaking English is going down.
Also I install the MSN Messenger, my English friends don't, so no way.
Anyway, I'm happy to receive your mail.
Leave your message to me when you feel to do.
Well, have a Lovely day.
Taamyu
Salut !
Clelba Posted Sep 5, 2003
i do'nt know what nagano is like, but i assume it's a good place to ski/snowboard since that's where the olympics were
niseko was amazing though...i haven't done a lot of snowboarding (i've never actually skied) but my family say it's some of the best snow they've been on...lots of powder snow!
you were in england in 1989...well, i would have only been about 4 years old then
don't worry about your english, it's perfectly understandable, and japanese is such a different language anyway, i don't know how so many japanese (and others) manage to learn it at all...
it's interesting that you say your english friends do'nt have MSN messenger...most of my friends use it..but then again, it may be an age thing, MSN is more popular with young people in england (i think...i could be making this up )

i've been to canada once before, on holiday when i was 7, but i wasn't going for 10 months then, and i didn't have to find a job or anything
anyway, hopefully it'll be fun...i'm not too worried about it (yet)

Clelba Posted Sep 16, 2003
that's a shame, not having a job isn't very nice...
i know exactly what you mean about no confidence...i'm learning french and spanish, and speaking is my worst in both of them...but it can be the most important as well, which makes things difficult
well i hope you can find some sort of job soon
b'bye...

OUI!
Clelba Posted Sep 21, 2003
french is good
i haven't finished preparing to go yet...just have my flight and things organised...i have lots to sort out, eg packing, money etc...
a typhoon? cool
and not so cool
but i like strong weather...we don't get a lot of extreme weather in britain...
i think canada will probably be colder than either you or me are right now
i'm going for about 9 or 10 months
the longest i've ever been away from home...by a long way!
i've been away for about a month before, but that was with my family...
i did go to boarding school though, so i'm used to being away from home even though i came home every weekend...

kbrtiata Posted Sep 23, 2003
It's wonderful that you will stay there for 6 or 9 months! You can enjoy and experience lots of things there Can you use computer there as well? If you can't, our conversation will have a 'resting' time, won't it?
As for typhoon, it's fine, if the scale is small. But the big scale one sometimes destroy nature, houses, blah, blah, blah. And sometimes it kills people too I miss British weather
Today, I spent with doing nothing. Just stayed at home and relaxed I try to start reading Engish novel Not sure if I can finish reading
Well take care with &
Speak to you soon

Wuthering Heigts
kbrtiata Posted Sep 29, 2003
AGAIN, I'm reading Wuthering Heights.
I tried to read Lord of the Ring, but Wuthering Heights is more interesting to me than it, because I can find something which I did not notice when I read before. If there are some good novels I'll try to read.
I like films too. But most of them are French.
We can see Matrix revolutions new year, I guess.
My brother LOVE that series
I'm afraid that Return of the King has not come here yet
If there is funny films, I'm used to go to cinema, too
Take Care
Speak to you soon

Wuthering Heigts
Clelba Posted Sep 30, 2003
i've never read wuthering heights...i'm not a big fan of "classics" although i'm sure i would enjoy most of them if i tried...
i've read the lord of the rings, but only after seeing the fellowship of the ring, because i didn't enjoy the hobbit and i assumed the lord of the rings books would be the same...i love lord of the rings now though...have you ever read any douglas adams or terry pratchett?
they're very popular with a lot of people on h2g2...and all over the place
i like french films too...amelie, of course, and 8 women are two of my favourites...
matrix revolutions will be here november the 5th (but i won't be!!)
i thought it was going to be released all over the world at the same time...which means you should get it then too...
and return of the king hasn't got here yet either
it's released...in december some time
(i'm not a , really!)

i'm good, thanks
sorry to hear you have a cold
you just need to tell yourself you're not really ill then you won't be
it works for me...i got over tonsillitis without missing a day of school and without going to the doctor...actually, i did, but all she said was that i was getting better on my own
i suppose there isn't much you can do about coughing though...oh well...sleep is good
