Dr Anthea - ah who needs to learn things... just google it! Posted May 3, 2005
what you said about the magicians and how often it is posted on... well i think you only looked at the main page...
a few charectors have been posting in the oane page
as for the academy i have and still am training a padwan on endor,
when they show up every so often, there is no need for the argument about it being a dead game, all games are like that at the moment it is no fault of hpbs
i hope yours goes well but i doubt it shall go as well as you wish it to
these are my final words on the subject,
Dr Anthea

Look, everybody's started ranting again,so I'm skimming - barely - some of the longer posts...oh heck,I'm skimming all the ranty and ranty-response posts.
But I'm p***ed off too about what's happening to the Academy. Can we do something?I know I've only been on a little over a year but it feels like forever.I miss it.Let's get it working! It doesn't matter who's fault - if anyone's - it is,let's just *do* something!
AD,you're new RPG sounds great, but I won't be joining.I've got enough to handle with the Academy and the Assassins. But good luck!
Actually,I won't be on much for a while.I've got my first exam tomorrow and then after that I'm rehearsing for Richard III,at the Gaiety in Ayr on the 3rd July with the BBC.I'm in 10 out of twelve scenes, and Kimmet - who's Richard - is only in eight,so I'm sh*t-feared.*shudders*
See you all at some point.*crosses fingers*

Anthea, I looked through every page of the magicians guild and it was at least a weeks inactivity. For the size of both games this is pretty awful state of affairs when you think about it (Guilds got what, 3 dozen?), and its not like this hasnt become a regular occurance - theres a big lull in everything at the moment.
*deletes rant* Then whose? I know you'd love to blame it on me, as would Psyc and many others, but the last bit of activity was 3 weeks after I left - I CHECKED my sources Anthea, go have a look for yourself if you don't beleive me.
"i hope yours goes well but i doubt it shall go as well as you wish it to"
And how is that? Why is it that every single person whose seen it believes that to be a success in my mind it needs to have X amount of players. The fact that it exists in the first place and straddles the other RPG's (including soon Assassins) like the yokozuna's of old makes me happy enough. If theres never a single post on the entire U page and its enteries I will still look at it and smile.
Its group mentality anth. I've said it before and Ill say it again one person posting doesnt encourage activity. If theres a concerted effort in one area, it'll spread. The renewel of Academy activity is where i'd put my money in regards to other RPG growth (Guild, Academy, Stargate, assassins - all interconnected with players who play academy more then the others, nail academy you nail the problem).
Lori - THANK YOU for seeing the point of this bloody entery in the first place. Whilst I enjoy spats with psyc and anth, in this case there wrong because the games slowly dying unless they themselves prove me wrong.
Don't worry about joining (need to speak to elwyn) but its not ready till about June-ish I reckon, and then exams will knock it on the head. Its never going to be complete; i know at uni ill come online just to add a new location or two a week.

I love the way you presume to know what I'm thinking. I don't think all the RPGs have 'died'. I don't think it's HPB's fault, and I certainly don't sit up at night brooding and imagining ways to blame you for events I don't consider problems.
How can I blame people when I went 2 weeks without posting due to Uni commitments?
At the end of the day these things are GAMES. If I don't play on my xBox for a week it's not dead, it doesn't weep electrical tears, it's an amusement, a distraction. I'm on h2g2 for the writing, RPGing takes a back seat.
There's no crisis because people haven't got time to spend 8 hours a day glued to the screen pretending to be imaginary people, that's just living a life that doesn't involve the majority of your time being spent online.
You want an honest opinion? You've created a storm in a teacup, foretold a great disaster which has befallen the two most successful RPGs on h2g2. Conveniently at a time when you're preparing to unleash your mighty project upon the community. Good advertising plan, and I mean that.
If you can find anything to argue with about that statement, well you're arguing for arguing's sake and I really don't want to get involved, I just can't stand it when people speak for me.

If your theories corect here - in that this is all a little advertising ploy, then why have I only mentioned it here on my journal and not on other RPG pages where people would SEE it? Also, out of the dozen or so people subscribed and/or lurking, one Elwyn has come forward to play, and I'm going to turn her away for a few months anyway.
Go look at the change in activity - when posted everythings dead, post-journal theres a bit of life slowly.
I understand your point regarding the xbox, but you've missed one key point. You play on the xbox alone, so no one is relying on your character to do certain things (unless you wish to be pedantic and point out co-op play). If certain people stop posting it starts to slow down. Thats what i've seen and found - go check for yourself if im soooo wrong. In turn, if no ones posting, people only creep in slightly because they think its dead, and then what do they do? Sod all to be honest because theres no activity.
Look go have a look if you don't beleive me. There not dead because people still want to play them, but the longer it stagnates the more chance there is people won't want to play them. If that happens then Academy dies.
You also seemed to have missed the point I raised above - I'd be happy if no one played Hyborians at all PERIOD! It can be built and gather dust and I will be immensly proud of my achievement. You won't believe me of course because no one does - but I'd rather no one played it then have a few who came on occasionaly once a month to post one ooc comment less then five words long.

Asmodai - Good. It is better to come late and prepared than scattered and unstructured. Look for me June-ish.
HPB - Hooray.
Dr. Anthea - I liked the new Assassins.

I'm sick of this place y'know. There must be SOMEWHERE you can voice an opinion or word a rebuttal to an argument without someone claiming you're ranting, flaming (or flamming if you prefer, or starting an argument.
Before I unsubscribe, I just want to say something to Lorelei. This doesn't apply to anyone else.
rant:
v. rant·ed, rant·ing, rants
v. intr.
To speak or write in a angry or violent manner; rave.
v. tr.
To utter or express with violence or extravagance: a dictator who ranted his vitriol onto a captive audience.
n.
1. Violent or extravagant speech or writing.
2. A speech or piece of writing that incites anger or violence: “The vast majority [of teenagers logged onto the Internet] did not encounter recipes for pipe bombs or deranged rants about white supremacy” (Daniel Okrent).
3. Chiefly British. Wild or uproarious merriment.
Not too difficult to wrap a few braincells round now is it?

Ah but my comments countered your rebuttal, and you can't make a rebuttal and expect it to go uncountered.
If its easily countered, then its starting an arguement not to accept the counter or bring a fresh rebuttal.

1) Yeh I've seemed to notice how im a friend to suit occasion. I dont rightly care reef and I cant mention your name and anyone elses on my journal. My name gets tossed around on this site enough.
2) Where, in the name of Crom, the Goblin King, and all his goblin servants, did you get the idea that I wanted to join Stargate command????? Have I ever shown a remote interest?

I'm not getting into an arguement reef. I've never shown an interest in stargate and I never will, because I'm not interested in Stargate in the first place. If I was I would have said long ago.
You want me to stay away reef? See the 'delete' next to my name in your friends list. Go clicky.
