Seen that you are setting one up. Give me a shout if you need any help. And is it just Inquisitors or will there be a Scholar Progenium section to train Guard and the Commisariat? Can I make one?? Of course when you shout at me, tell me not to get involved and keep my nose out, I'll take no offence!
Just wanted to try a different type of character than the maverick Jedi, sorta like a commissar, the other end of the scale.

Inquisitor, HPB, is one of the Warhammer 40,000 spin off games. The Inquisitors of the Emperor are agents who work against threats to the Imperium of Man. Basically they're split into three orders:
Ordo Malleus - "Daemonhunters" - Act against the forces of Chaos, and the minions of dark gods.
Ordo Hereticus - "Witch-hunters" Act against the enemy within, unsanctioned Human psykers, insurrectionist cults and such like.
Ordo Xenos - "Alien Killers" Act against the alien forces which assail the Imperium of Man.
They also each have their own armies to command.
Malleus - "Grey Knight" Space Marines, bio-engineered warriors dedicated to purging daemons with specialist weaponry and training.
Hereticus - Adeptus Soritas, basically nuns with guns. And power armour. And flamethrowers.
Xenos - The "Deathwatch" Space Marined, recruited from the Marine chapters across the galaxy to fight for the Inquisition against the alien foe when needed.
And AD, can I help??

hmmmmm you've got your lingo sorted. Maybe
Which system do you think works best -
a) New players are assigned to inquistors (as in the academy). You can break training if you want etc etc. As an inquisitor you can go and specialise if you get the experience e.g train with storm troopers/grey knights/priest etc. The henchmen for your warband (usually only one) as well as your training buddies are NPC's, so storyline control risides with GM.
b) New players choose a role for themselves without thread experience. You can choose to be a standard inquisitor, storm trooper, space marine etc etc etc. You dont have henchmenas such, but can form into groups (so that an inquisitor player can lead an investigation with a group of henchmen players backing him up).
Overall charecter advancement is governed by the GM, but other players can suggest advancements ('hes good, let him be a lord').
Also, you choose your ordo on start up, and so are assigned to an appopriate inquisitor for training (as the fluff says happens)
Oh and im banning carapace, power, and terminator armour to players. If players want it they have they have to find it. And i plan to do a rumours journal, so that players can go investigate planets for the appropriate rumours ('theres power armour there - ha i lied and now a trap for you!')

I think b. I mean you can mover up in ranks on the different paths...
Acolyte -> Inquisitor -> Lord
Guardsman -> Veteran -> Storm Trooper -> Commissar
Scout -> Marine -> Veteran -> Deathwatch/Grey Knight
Give everyone standard kit y'know, Flak Armour for the Inquis/IG, Scout Armour for the Marines. Las weaponry/Bolt weaponry. Combat weapons.
If you have to hunt things down then there's a lot of potential for things like Daemonic weapons, maybe Cameoline cloaks from the ruins of Tanith....

The problem with be is that new people are thrown straight in at the deep end ('heres your kit, bye').
Like i said - no marines! I might let inquisitors lead a deathwatch/sisters/grey knights squad occassionaly (you can appeal for exterminatus. and you can appeal for grey knights) I also dont want marines for the kiddy factor and for the rules which follow ('my chapter carry rapid firing lascannons and never run away')
My plan equipment was to let the trainers dish out the weaponry
'heres a dagger and a peice of metal'
'But you've got a storm bolter and power fist. And nice gold armour'
'Tough'
The imperium in 40k just seems so farsh and unforgiving, so thats how i want it played really. Theres countless instances in the fluff where troops have been left on a planet about to be destroyed, because its easier to do.
"If you have to hunt things down then there's a lot of potential for things like Daemonic weapons, maybe Cameoline cloaks from the ruins of Tanith...." - That was the plan basically. A mondominant will probibly be the first to find power armour, but will be useless at investigations and the like. I might also set up a store for people to buy there equipment, with discounts according to alignment e.g. mondominant get cheeper flamers, xenos get cheeper bolt types and special gear, malleus get cheeper force weapons etc etc but im not to sure on that yet

Well, if you have an armoury under the charge of a particularly stern quartermaster type figure, you have to request specific weapons and kit for each mission. Typical Imperial policy would have you punished if you lost it...
Obviously anything you find, you keep, but when you start you get the battered old lasrifle and bayonet and you damn well work with it trooper!

I never thought of that.But changed slightly so that you can go request kit (you never buy anything) and depending on your status in the game, your reputation, actions etc you might get something. And instead of stern to everyone, stern to the newbies (so they dont run and get everything they want, and because he can do it) average to the inquisitors (because he now has respect for them, and because they have more power) and total respect for the lords (because if he doesnt give them what they want they'll shoot him for heresy)

Yeh but you'll have to change later on because there'll be no need for a comissar (you can have two charecters, the comissar will take the extra newbie's, a lord to deal out fire and brimstone) Ill probibly have two anyway. One to be the GM (so probibly high inquisitor lord) and an inquisitor lord to go on missions with the players.
Im gona start building it properly over the next few days. Ill use nemisis terra (spelling) as the base. If you want to help then could you get me a list of planets that dont have much fluff to them, as well as some names of inquisitor bases (theres about three or four).
Oh and ill probibly let the lords have ultimate powers (so yes, as a lord, your comissar has the power to execute players, which should put the right amount of fear and discipline in dont you think?)
