/Why/ are they doing this Manchester Passion thing?
Sounds like a reason to mock Christians on another of their holidays like Channel 4 did with Christmas Day (2004). If it was on BBC One it'd be the Jerry Springer Opera all over again in reaction so they put it to BBC Three which targets the younger studentish audience. That audience which on the whole doesn't care and about religion and are probably athiest.
And it sounds like a complete load.
