Where's Job?
Arisztid Lugosi Posted Sep 15, 2006
I know he hasn't posted in ages, it made me a little lonely here! I didn't realize that his space had dissapeared!!! I really find that most alarming! I'll have to ask him about that the next time I talk to him. Don't worry though... The Lord Job Boron is quite fine. I talk to him most days that I'm off and when I'm not I usually email him. I think Hootoo was giving him some trouble before he went away.

I dont blame you.
If you want to know a secret I'm a little worried about Jerms. I haven't had a text from him in ages! I keep sending them but I never get a reply. To be honest thats not unusual...But usually I get one every now and again.
I dont really know why hes not on anymore. He told me that it wouldnt let him post or anything... Before he went away. I just assume he hasnt tried again. I'll ask him about it in my next email to him, I'll ask him what happened to his PS too. I should have thought to ask him when he was on MSN today. Although I was busy trying to figure out if I still want to be a goth.

Well you see this kid in Montreal went and shot some people. He said he was a goth. I was just questioning if my definition of goth is right or theirs is. Also there alot of people I dont like that call themselves goth... I want to distance myself from them. I talked to Job about it, he seems to have all the answers when I ask him questions like this (makes me feel stupid in a way). So the conclusion I have come to is that I'm a Romantic. Its still a goth, but in a more intellectual, well read, elitest kind of way I think. I'm still the same old Met
Don't worry.... The idea of truely abandoning being goth made me extremely sad, I dont think I'll ever do it.

Yeah I heard about that. Although to be honest it could be something different, come to think of it. Is Montreal in Canada or the U.S.?
~*~I was just questioning if my definition of Goth is right or theirs is.~*~
Oh, you know how it goes. Everyone has their own ideas. My thinking is that it's one of those undefinable things that you know when you see it but you can't describe it abstractly. Personally I think unprovoked violence and killing is definitely /not/ Goth.
~*~Also there alot of people I dont like that call themselves Goth... I want to distance myself from them.~*~
Meh. You don't have to like somebody just because they identify themselves with the same subculture you do. Take A for instance. He's the Scoutmaster of Troop 999, and I really like Troop 999, but I don't like him.

Well it didn't really make sense to me, seeing's as it's not exactly a conscious choice or anything....
While we're on the subject though; I was wondering, who do you think is the Gothiest Character you've ever seen on TV and Film.
For Film I think The Punisher is. The best part about that is they actually show a transition from "regular guy" to "the world is cruel" guy.
And for TV I'd go with Teal'c, but I'm sure you already know what I'm talking about there.
Anyway...

So you were right... Although the problem with that test is that some questions I couldnt answer but had to. Job says he thinks I'm a romantic. I dont know waht I am.... so its quite hard to say. But like one of the websites you sent me said, we're a combination of a lot of things.

"While we're on the subject though; I was wondering, who do you think is the Gothiest Character you've ever seen on TV and Film."
Film? Dracula... Especially the 1973 version. Because he didnt really seem like that bad a guy to me, and I think he really loved the girl and she got taken from him. On TV? thats tough... I dont know. I think people would say Spike from Buffy... But I havent even seen that show. To be honest I cant think of many gothic characters. I dont quite see what you mean about Teal'c.... I see him as more unemotional than depressed.

His whole life he's been a slave and he didn't think the Goa'uld could ever be stopped, but he resisted them anyway. Despite the aweful stuff he had to do. Fits the bill if you ask me.
~*~Who is The Punisher?~*~
He was originally a Comic Book character. I didn't really know anything about him until the movie came out. Basically he was in the CIA until a drug lord murdered his entire family as revenge for (accidentally) killing the drug lord's son. He survived the slaughter though and became a vigilante because he didn't think the Law was actually doing anything about it. So he goes around opposing the bad guys as it were.

It makes sense. I agree with that, but I think there theres more to being goth than just that. I mean I think there has to be a certain feeling of affinity for the sublime. You have to be willing to stand out in a crowd, stand up for what you believe in. Love music, vampires, graveyards and dark stormy nights. There has to be tragedy in there somewhere too I think. Being sad is pretty darn gothic. It seems to defy definition... Perhaps to each goth its something different.
