Hi
My naim is Simon Beard (or Sim to most people, and I guess you are most people by the fact that you are reading this). I am an 18 year old student living in Sevenoaks Kent UK. I have just finished my A levels and am hoping to start a digree in Polatics Philosophy and Economics next year. Unfortunatly my exams where somewhat affected by the fact that I had an episode of sevear dipression! I am now in good hands though and have joined H2G2 in part out of hope of meating people on-line who are wiered enough to get along with me! For me wierdness is a virtue paramount only to humour and empathy, and probably far exeeding both, so don't think I am normal and/or shy, hell I have told you about my dipession and we're only 200 words in (that is assuming you got this far).
Anyway Hobbies are mixed and I am still trying to find out what I am into. I like poetry and running/walking, I am also quite fond of active stuff, esspecially dance, yoga and trampolining (btw, why is it that MS word does not accept the existance of the word trampoleaning, it keeps on correcting it to trampoline). I am hoping to get a summer job but am finding it a bit difficult becasue I am sevearly visually impared. However with a CV like mine I am hoping this barrear can be crossed no problem!
I am partial to all sorts of music but tend to be wairy of stuff which is to modern, I reakon if a song can last 2 or 3 years and still be grate then it is worth paying attention to. I love blues and 50s style rock and roll but am also into country, some jazz, and the modern detroit rock scene, plust other stuff. I like books which make me laugh, I whant to like profound books, but stuff like Terry Pratchet or the grate Dougles Adams himself seams to me a much better bet for my beadtime reading, plus I am only 18, so lots of time left to improve myself.
At the moment the things I am using H2G2 for most are to find out about odd things that I half hear about in conversations and figure sound interesting and information about alternative medicain and dipression by noramal people who don't use those finger cymbal things, yikes!
