Artists

Everyone and their mother is an artist.
And sense the definition of art is so subjective, who's to really say what's good art or not?
Art is not something people need in order to stay alive. We "need" things like transportation and septic systems. We wouldn't want to be walking around and pooping everywhere, now would we?
But WHO REALLY NEEDS art?
If you were on your last dollar, would you pick up a tasty pastry or a pretty postcard?
But really, what does society need art for? To stand out in a crowd? To visually complete the loop of corporate identity, or "tell a story without words." or whatever...
Who cares??
A craft is only worth anything if someone cand find a use for it. So what if your masterpiece is stored away in the back of your closet, collecting dust...what good is it if nobody ever sees it?
And if someone were to see it, what would that really mean if they were to say "nice" and walk away? It would disappear from their lives in a single glance...
but doesn't everything else...really?
