Actually quite good. I just had a nice brunch with both my brothers & the one's family yesterday. Weather was quite nice too, between 23 & 28 C (actually 28's a bit much for me).

Yes, me too 23-24 was quite enough, although 27-28 is somewhat more bearable than 33-34 C!

33-34c?
We had one day yesterday when it hit 30c - I was out in the hills walking, there wasn't a tree for miles. I won't be doing that again in a hurry

hmm...as the Chinese curse says, interesting. I've spent the last couple of days trying to find a decent(ish) car that I can afford & that I can get to see by public transport. Apart from that not too bad

Hmm, I'm afraid I rely on public transport most of the time...when I'm not relying on my own 2 legs!

It's not so easy here. I can get to work fine, but that's about it. Our transport links aren't the best, and even the town where I live seems to have been designed (in the 70s) as though everyone has a car. If you try to walk places, you usually have to take a strange route, and there are some areas where you're forced to walk on the road -not good at night.

Yes, I am restricted somewhat, unfortunately es don't go everywhere but you try to adjust as much as possible.

sorry - I know I sopund like I'm moaning, ok, I *am * moaning
I'm generally happy to walk for miles (it's what I do most weekends in any case) and I don't use the car for short trips, BUT walking alone after dark can get a little scary....soooo I really want to replace it if I can

Oh, that's quite alright...& I know what you mean about walking alone after dark...the world has changed, 20 years ago it would've been ok, perhaps even 15 years ago, but not now!

Yes I agree. When I was my daughter's age (16) I went everywhere by bus. I had to, we had no car, but then hardly anyone else did either. There was far more public transport. Though from experience, it wasn't entirely safe then either.
Now, because of where we live, and how far away her friends are, I'd be worried sick if she was walking home alone. I do think it's a great shame though, because it can be restrictive for kids. It limits their independence, and we're raising a generation who don't know what their legs are for!

Yes, I know what you mean...I have to make a point of walking more during the day. And yes, I'd certainly be worried with a 16 yr old daughter walking alone at night!
