smiley - cross I spoke to a bloke at college on the telemephone earlier todaysmiley - cross I went for an interiew about 2 weks ago about a graphics A-level course. But because I've already got an A-level in Art, I won't be able to do the Graphics course!smiley - grr

So I've got 3 options:

1.) Forget about doing the course and carry on where i am

2.) Do a full time course for 4 years and be skint for all that time because I'd only be able to have a saturday job

c.) Do some Adult Access course at a rough college, ages away

smiley - cross Stupid rules!

smiley - sadface oo dear - don't like the sound of any of those: stupid rules indeed.

What is the four-year course in? What would you get at the end of it?

Thats rather odd, why can't you argue that your A-level art didn't have as much stuff about the graphics side, and that this course will be more useful to you as it is more indepth with graphics and that your A-level art was just to cover the spectrum to find what course you wanted to specialise in and wasn't just about graphics, etc?

Shouldn't you be allowed to choose...? If I were you, I'd ask someone else, it hardly seems fair...but then again I wouldn't know...I'm just supposing and assuming...hope whatever you do works out for you, footie

Option 4: Appeal?

Option 5: Colleges are *really good* at admin. Re-apply but spell your name different, leave out the fact that you've already got Art A level...presto! You're on the course! (If you get interviewed by the same bloke, claim it was your twin sister.)

They say that they've had the problem before with others. The Art A level I've got has absolutely nothing to do with graphics, but because graphics comes under the same heading as Art A level, it means I already have an Alevel in graphicssmiley - ermsmiley - weird

The 4 year course is National Diploma, but I wouldn't want to give up my job in case i don't like the coursesmiley - erm

Yeh, I'm with Croz n' Freddy..

Appeal, beg, call on careers officer and if that don't work, twin sister smiley - evilgrin...or perhaps apply elsewhere in another nearby college accidentally omiting a-level on the please may I study graphics art form..

After all you should be allowed to pursue what you want to learn, I don't see why they can't let you, it doesn't make sense to me all smiley - erm Its not like they are losing money, and if they have student that is likely to pass, I don't see the problem there either..it all looks good for them..

What a pain for you!

Give em a mighty paperwork headache and tell em your informing your local MP and you are going to write a letter to the PM or something, or sell your story to the local rag...smiley - devil perhaps that might make em realise that you are serious about your future, and nothing will stop you from obtaining it....

..in fact want me to pop down there? smiley - cross

*chuckles*

Sorry will step down of crate, *kicks crate over to someone else*

smiley - run

Hmmm...good point, who *is* your local MP? If it's Gordon Brown, you can get into Oxford University with no quallies!

...ohh..ohh..ohhh...

and another thing...ask for their refusal to take you on because of your A level in art etc and the reasons why *in WRITING*...that usually freaks em out somewhat cos they know you are up to something...smiley - evilgrin

When they ask why, say that you thought it was very unfair and you are now going to seek (legal) advice...don't enlighten them as to what (legal) advice ...unless you want to and have the gift of the gab with accidental name dropping...and hinting at other colleges responses...

This sounds waaaaay daft to me - fartknockers indeed.

And I'd second the above advice too: if you keep pushing hard enough, you may just get somewhere - don't take 'no' for an answer

Is that the college?
No, it's a fish and chip shop
Well, that just won't do ...

All right, in that case take 'no' for an answer - but otherwise keep knocking on the fartknockers' door smiley - biggrin

Buy a large gun and wave it under their faces. That should help.
