I meant to reply last night, but got involved in other things.

It is interesting living in a place where there are things in the wild that can kill you, But the severe weather is certainly a bigger threat on a regular basis, especially in the summertime. We have had major thunderstorms with waterspouts and tornadoes for the last two or three nights in a row.

They have to do with the evening sea breeze from the Atlantic hitting the sea breeze from the Gulf and usually start here about 5:00 PM - just in time for rush hour.

My wife's sisters all live in the Pacific North West near the Cascade Mountains. When a hurricane is within a few thousand miles they all phone and give us their wishes for safety. I like to respond with 'I sure hope your mountain doesn't blow up.' (The Cascades are all volcanoes, and as demonstrated by Mount St. Helen's a few year ago, by no means extinct)

I did see that report on the local news, Channel 8 is in our local market. We usually watch 13 ourselves but that is more from long habit from when they had the best weather coverage in the area. They also had the local farm report in the morning, I am a city boy, but I loved listening to the prices of cattle, hogs and hay.

Have you noticed that all the 'news' shows are trying to switch to mindless blather? I hate when the weatherman tries to tell me how 'good' or 'bad' the weather will be. If he thinks temperatures in the mid-nineties are oppressive - he should really move some place cooler. I'm a Florida boy and they are fine by me
Just tell me me the forecast and I can make up my own opinion
